Slide rule pass

Blackburn deservedly dragged themselves back in the contest on 62 minutes as Emerton brilliantly latched onto a slide-rule pass from Flitcroft to burst through on goal and the Australian ace kept his cool to fire past Howard.

OK. What the hell is it? What does it mean?

i watched the game...

the way they scored was:

Yorke was offsides. He checked himself, and ran back. Flitcroft started runnin, Emerton passed it forward, Flitcroft sprinted his ass off to get to the ball, and then scored. It was a great pass; transition from Emerton to Flitcroft, everything just seemed so smooth.

I imagine it means a square ball. (A right-angled pass. I realize square ball could be confusing too.)

I think im gonna have to watch the replay of the game. Sounds confusing. Thanks for the reply guys.

Nah, u might be right... I dont remember exactly what angle he passed it from, but it was a great pass.

that was a great game. blackburn was totally outclassed in the first half (some really dumb defending) but they played really well in the second half.
