It's Sir Trevor from this point on.

Trevor Brooking has been knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Not quite sure what he's done to earn a knighthood but it seems that a scrappy goal in the FA Cup Final and some bad commentary work in PES is enough thesedays.

You seem to have forgot that he was a West Ham legend making 600 appearences and scoring 100 goals, he also won the FA cup twice with the Hammers (scoring the only goal against Arsenal in 1980 cup final) and was capped 47 times during his England days.

So?

He had a nice career as a footballer. Lucky boy, luckier than most of us.

I thought a knighthood was for those who had made some kind of outstanding contribution to society. I guess he must be doing lots of work behind the scenes that doesn't get publicised.

I suppose 600 appearences for West Ham was a huge contribution to East London's society

True....so he deserves a large jar of jellied eels.

I've nothing against the bloke but it seems like knighthoods are becoming quite easy to come by.

Yes, he is also involved in endless charity work and helping youngsters turn into the next Michael Owen. You should do your research before posting a topic like this Aqua ;)
