Should I Just Buy A Jap Ps2???

Although people have attempted to help me get WE6 FE up and running on my ps2...it has yet to happen, and I'm growing impatient.

Should i just spend the $100-$150 on a used japanese ps2? Especially since WE 7 does not have a release date in the US as of yet.

Anyone have any info on the US release?

-BTW, Jumbo, let me know about hooking it up with a working, patched, version of WE6FE for my USA PS2.

Mate, if you can post in detail how and what method that you are using to try to get WE6:fe up and running on your Ps2, maybe you will find help here, are u using the KT in conjunction with a gameshark.?

The Usa guys in here should have the solution for you, otherwise as was suggested a no swap, no bullshyte Mod Chip is the way to go and probably a better option than going to all the hassle of importing a Jap ps2 Console.

I guess you'd need some kind of adaptor. The electrical system voltage is probably different too.

Of course it is.Probably if you somehow got to play a US PS2 in a Japanese outlet it would probably burnout your PS2 or outlet. :( :rolleyes:

Because the servers that will be hosting the game will probably have a setup that will detect a Modded Ps2, it is a trick that Microshaft are into as well, in other words the major players on the Pc and Console on line gaming scene want to control us by only allowing "Clean Consoles" and clean installs of certain Pc games, to connect to there servers and in there opinion this is s'posed to help to eliminate the usage of "Backups"..

Which is contradictory to being legally allowed one legal backup of any piece of purchased software, and that is only if you can batter down the protections that these Companies put on to try to stop the backing up of legaly purchased software.

But not to worry, by the time that we see stable online gaming for the WE series, maybe we will all need to purchase the PS3 with all its proposed gadgets and ghizmos that i often read about here on the net. --

Yup. Most newer modchips have the ability to be disabled. I guess if you a going to play online, use the original copy and disabled the modchip. I have a Messiah 2 Pro and you just have to hit the reset button for about 5 seconds to disable it.

problem is that u have to use knife trick to boot we7 (jap) or pes3 (uk) if u have a non-jap or non-uk set.

Well, WE7 without online, is better than no WE7 at all.

HERE'S THE QUESTION...WHO'S GOING TO ENGLISH PATCH IT AND DISTRIBUTE IT FIRST??? I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND!

I know of people who have the asian ps2, and they never had a worry about the plug, because i assume they just take the plug connection from a US ps2, psOne, or many other US sony releases, and use that. I believe the connecting female slot is the same shape for both systems.

BTW...sony plans to release the PSX (basically a soup'd up ps2). It will have a tv tuner, better dvd player, with a remote that has an eject and power button (thank you!), and also a 120gb hard drive. It's "slated to release in japan"...uh, i forget...someone else who knows more, post about it.


One more thing; even if we don't get WE7 online, we'll have fifa 2004 online on the ps2...a consolation prize that ain't too bad :(

nah i won't be getting the broadband unit for ps2.. still too little games that support it, and cost like US$250 in singapore here.

My advise is Just get the set from your region (no worries about the power plug), and mod it with mods that can be switched off.

$250US in singapore for a broadband internet connection??? Wow...is this monthly? Or are you talking about a network adapter (i doubt it)

oh, sorry.. network adaptor for ps2 is also called broadband unit in another ps2 forum.
