Ok, look at it this way:

Which is a smarter buy? Buying a $1200+ PC that chances are you will have to get rid of or upgrade a great deal in 2 years or buying a $400-$600 PS3 that will last you 5+ years...all to play the same games?

And yeah, alright, so with a PC you can edit the game. But is that really worth another $600-$800 dollars?
.
Yes it is worth, because of the simple fact that I don't buy a PC just for FIFA and only for playing games. For me a computer is an all-around plattform with much more function than a console.
And buying a PS3, only because of FIFA?
Are there any other interessting games I can't play on a PC?
Motorstorm or Rachet & Clank???:drevil:

Elhelmiey: Well I think it takes away from the gaming experience if you do not have everything set at full...FIFA 08 on high graphics is stunning on my PS3...it would look pretty bad on low settings...

Generic Oval: So you want to pay $600-800 so you can also go online and do other things like that? Well, can't you just use your old PC for that??? I mean, you don't need a $1200 PC to surf the internet if your current PC can already do that...

And you can pretty much play any game on PC on a console too...but that's not really the point..the point is that it is a much cheaper and better alternative to simply buy a console to play all the latest games...

Updated Rosters: You can do that yourself

More Leagues: Console versions of the game have the same number of leagues as the PC version

More Players: Console versions have the same leagues as the PC versions thus having the same number of players

More Stadiums: PC has more stadiums but that will change next year

More Tournaments: Console versions of FIFA 08 have the same number of tournaments as PC

More fun: The next-gen smooth graphics and gamplay make FIFA 08 a blast on console compared to the PC version...

After this I'd say consoles are better from a gaming point of view :D

Well, here's my opinion. I have bought a new PC 2 weeks ago, which will surely run a next-gen FIFA perfectly. But I didnt buy it just for FIFA. You know, many games are like next-gen now. And not only gaming. A lot of programs require a better PC, for example Photoshop CS3. It runs on 512 ram, but it's slow. My Internet is also a lot better with the new PC. PC can do twice the consoles... That's why it's good news, that it's going to be next-gen.

But we are talking about FIFA 09, which will be next-gen for PC. Talk then ;). And if you dont have a HDTV it's not that spectacular for the consoles...

Goke: Well I'm just saying that's something that you can do on consoles also...I personally don't see a need to have virtually all small teams rosters updated :P I can update the big teams myself...

Ultra Blue: Mate, I was in the same position as you. My PC is somewhat old, and I wanted a new PC to also partly gear up for FIFA 09 and other next-gen games. But then I began thinking about my needs. All I do on my PC is play games, go online, do homework etc...and I realized I do not need an entirely new $1200 PC just to do all that. Why? Because my PC can already go online perfectly, it can run many programs smoothly, etc...all it can't do anymore is play the latest games.

Therefore, consoles are much much cheaper than a new PC. I got a PS3 to play all the latest games and I can use my old PC to go online, run programs, do homework, etc...You do not need the latest PC to do those basic things. Therefore, sinply buying a console is a much smarter buy. Also, a PS3 is like a PC too with the lastest components ;)

Have you played FIFA 08 next-gen? I have it...and I must say I really doubt the majority of PC's will be able to run FIFA 09 smoothly. FIFA 08 is FANTASTIC from all points of view and IMO 09 will require VERY HIGH System Requirements to run all those things. Just the gameplay is a beast (nevermind the graphics). Plus, not having an HDTV doesn't mean the game does not look good, trust me.

P.S. Mate, just so you know, CS3 is a waste of money. I experimented with CS2 and I must say CS2 was nearly IDENTICAL to my Photoshop 6.0...CS3 is NOT worth it, no matter how you get it ;)

Well in the end it all depends on what you want to do with your PC :). If you want it for gaming, maybe consoles are a better option, but I must say there are games that are PC Only :). And will remain PC only. I am talking about some very good games. But it is for FIFA 09. I havent played the Next gen FIFA, but I really want. As for the HDTV - maybe, I don't have a console to say :). As I said in one other thread, one friend runs Crysis on medium with 1 gb ram and 256 gpu. Do you think that wont be enough for FIFA ? :) I think it's quite enough :).

I agree with you...it all comes down to what you want to do with your PC...well said!

About PC only games...mate every platform has their exclusive games...and plus, what major games are exclusive for PC besides Crysis and WOW?

Well mate, I just know this: FIFA 08 is fantastic and awesome from every aspect. The gameplay is great, graphics are just stunning, kits move, players sweat, stadiums are great, crowd is 3d, etc etc...

I think all these things will be very hard for a PC to run all at the same time and very smoothly...that is my opinion...

NO!
Not because of the system requirements but due to the fact that it will make editing more tougher as all the tools which have been made so far for editing wud be useless!

Once I heard a top EA official saying that the ps2 has got a lot of life and they will continue to make fifa for ps2 so what I am trying to say is that as long as they make fifa for ps2 they will maintain the same engine for the pc too.

Though next gen has its own advantages it has equal drawbacks.

My prediction is that you can expect the same engin till 2010.

As XP is more popular than vista next gen wont be a possibility.

If you call PES 2008 next gen nah! I dont think so it is almost the same as its predecessors.

I am not sure it will require "one hell of a PC" to play it. It will be enough to have a 3GHz CPU, 1GB ram and 256 GF 7900 + . It's not that much ;).

Ok, so this is a question thread. There is the question, please no off topic. I'll say my opinion now. I think yes. And EA must make it next gen. You know, PES 2008 is next gen, so this is the main reason, they have to make their fifa 09, or even euro 2008 next gen... EA've got no other choice, but to do it. You know, many people WANT a next gen fifa for PC, and that's another reason. So, I think those 2 are enough reasons from me, I want to know your opinion :).

YES agreed.

Getting  of the same :s***: every year

In addition to better graphics, the movement of the players and many other things mentioned on these forums needs improving.

Ok, but now let's think for a bit, how many families in Europe OWN or for that matter can actually AFFORD a PC like that? Just a 3Ghz CPU is enough to turn them away...

Btw, is EA even making an Euro 2008???

well who guess suddenly ea announces that euro 2008 will be the 1st ng on pc  but that's really seems to be impossible... but i wish so! :p

Yes, I understand you, but see, so many people are not buying the game, not because they dont have the money, because they can get it free from somewhere. And for the PC - it's no more than 350 $ and by the time FIFA 09 comes it'll be about 280 $ maybe :). So it's not that much.

Yes, you do have a point, but...

A) The methods they can get it for free tend to be ILLEGAL, and they also tend to dump tens of viruses on your 'new' PC.

B) You have a point about the $350 going to $280, but when that processor will go to $280, companies will come out with an EVEN BETTER processor to replace the cheap one which is still very good.

That is how PC companies constantly make money. And that is why I hat buying a PC. Why buy a new PC now when if you wait 2 more weeks a brand new component will be released? And after 2 weeks why buy one then because something new will come out in ANOTHER 2 weeks...

One week you buy the best PC out there and the next week it is a pile of obsolete junk...(yes, I am exaggerating, but you get the idea)

Well I have 2 PC's and one of them is actually 10 years old! xD It has Windows Millenium on it...xD xD

But yeah you are right, you can't stay with a 10 year old PC. I'm just talking about those people who buy new computers almost every 2 years :|
