Short freekick problem

How do i take a short freekick to an other player of my team ?

When i take a freekick in the midfield i wanna pass it to a team mate and not just kick it in front of the goal. This must be possible.
Normally you do this with the pass button + direction pad. But when a player of my team is standing close or behind the wall of player of the other team in front of me........my player passes the ball just straight in the wall and so to the other team. Is this what they say realistic.......What am i doing wrong ?

More than a hundred people was reading this thread and nobody has an answer or any tips ?

Maybe nobody use a short freekick........or everybody accepts this passing system and think this is very realistic ?????

Ok, on short free kicks I usually get my best free kick taker of the opposite foot (if on the right, get someone left footed).

Once you have done that, you press L2 (Z on keyboard default layout I think) twice, then you hold down L1 (Q on keyboard default layout) and press X (the pass button, X on default keyboard layout, S on my keyboard). If you do that the second player will release the ball right in front of your freekick taker, then hold shoot meter towards the net, this part works just like shooting.

But this works only if you wanna shoot on goal i suppose ?

But what if i wanna take a free kick and DON'T wanna shoot on goal, i just wanna start passing around to other players ???

Then just pass the ball around after you laid the ball off using L2 and after than L1+X. I don't see what's your problem. I can pass the ball fine with just X since the power helps alot.

i don't like the lay off free kicks at all this year. Last year it was my money play. in PES4 you could hold down the right analog stick and control the power of the lay off pass. This was great for getting around the walls. This year you have basically no control over the lay off pass so it's pretty much pointless.
As far as passing it to another player goes... just use the regular ground pass button and aim for a team mate.
