shooting tips needed

so...

i score a lot of goals but almost all are headers, rebounds... or when i'm clean through and tap the ball past the goalie from a few yards out... almost every shot even from just inside the penalty area is saved... near post or far post... even when i hit the blue area

which brings me on to my next question... it seems to me that even with the analog stick... the shooting directions only change in 45 degree increments so from many angles i can't find the right shot.. most importantly when i'm to the left of the goal and i want to shoot at the far sight... it always goes out or straight to the keeper

so what do you guys do (btw i'm playing world class... i want tips for world class... i'm sure lower difficulties its easier to score from far out)

If you're playing on the standard EA gameplay my advise is to try out different gameplay modifications, there are a bunch out there, till you find one that suits your playstyle, several have changes in the ball physics so you should be able to find one that you like.

when I'm 1 on 1 with the GK, i usualy go to the penalty spot area, select a side and a short click on the kick key is doing the work. 90% goal.

of course.. thats what i want to avoid. .cuz it forces me into a certain style of playing.... and i never get to score goals from midfielders....

I get a lot of goals from my midfielders when I continue to drive them forward during the game. I attack a lot from the wing and try for crosses into the penalty area. Doing that, I find a lot of my midfielders drive forward. But I am using the Ock career mode gameplay patch. I really enjoy the patch since it adds a ton of leagues and tournaments into the game. My two leading goal getters are my two starting strikers and then my next four include one defender (lots of headers off set pieces) and three midfielders (including my CDM). But I play very aggressive. I drive forward during the game and try to find openings in the wings (mostly) and the center when I can't get through the wing or side. I think my terminology is correct there...sorry if not. Football is not my forte, hockey is :)

But I'd just keep at it. Maybe it's the team you're using? Maybe they don't have a lot of midfielders who drive forward. I have one guy who has no offencive skill and stays back in a more defensive midfield position even though he's my left mid.

As I noted in another post about scoring you have to aim for the opposite corners most of the time or really blast a shot. Then it is dependent on the skill of the player involved. I have scored many diverse goals with Rooney, Saha, Giggs , Scholes, Aimar in and outside the box other than a header, quasi-breakaway, or rebound. I score with midfielders most when a ball is cleared out to the top of the penalty area, jts take it down and a split second later try to pick the opposite corner.

Also, just yesterday I scored my first chip. I sprung Saha to the edge of the penalty area and on a hunch regarding the keepers position I lobbed over him to the opposite corner. Keeper didn't move and the ball gracefully fell in softly......GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL.

I haev been scoring more and more passing across the goal between two players as well, something I did a lot in FIFA2005, but find harder in 06.

Haha,
Dave
