sharing what i've found, if itself useful; how i managed to score different goals

simple, used the box overload strategy... the players are surprisingly sensible and don't just run straight into the box, rather the midfielders are a lot lot more active and move about and aren't 'glued' to their zones thus this feels a lot more organic... e.g. if the play is way on the right... you will sometimes see the left winger coming in a central position etc... now i'm scoring many different goals from many different players... unlike before where i would score with just a few players and each player would have very similar goals since he would always be in the same position in certain situations

oh btw.. i'm using ockhams gameplay patch.. i don't know how BO would respond under normal gameplay...

It responds the same I think as I use that offensive setting as well and have scored with defenders (Ferdinand, Neville, Heinze) as well as all the midfielders.

What kind of through balls do you all play? I hardly seem to be able to get goals from through balls..

It's more or less always the defender's ball when i try to play one in..

Here is esentially what I do (albeit briefly):

Usually I'll score goals on through balls when I counter-attack afdter being pressured in my end. Usually that means I steal the ball with a midfielder, pass up the middle to one of the strikers (4-4-2) and occasionally as I'm taking that pass with the striker moving back toward my own end I can whirl and drive an lobbed through ball to the second striker. I use the lobbed through ball alot just generally.

What happens in 06 is that anytime the ball is moved up to the strikers or near, the other stiker(s) runat the guy with the ball and then by him. If you take the ball and hold it up, you can also sometimes hit the cutting striker just after he clears you and is running diagonally still.

In FIFA 05, there were a lot of easy through balls where you were angled to the recipient and just fed the ball through the gap. The AI is better in this respect in 06 so its very hard to do that unless theres a huge gap or you're already ahead of the closest defender.

Most regular through balls that I feed that wind up in the back of the next usually are thrown behind a defender and the other teammate runs onto it, whereas in 05, it was usually fed in front of the defender as you led your teammate into the gap with the throughball.

Most times, unless I'm trying the quick counter-attack, I really work the ball around just with the normal passing. If I get down near the end line and am too crowded, there is usually a trailer at the top corner of the penalty area that I'll feed it back to. I just keep moving back and forth feeding it in and out until I break the defence down or I have some space for a long shot (unobstructed by a defender). Unlike 05, don't be afraid to shoot from outside the penalty area, I've scored a lot of goals from just outside. The defenders always try to block the shot and frequently it riccochets of them into the net or riccochets to another one of my players who'll finsih on the ground or in the air.

Cheers,
Dave

krp: try this... if you're playing on worldclass you can't be that direct.... you have to play the ball around... especially using the pace control... get the cpu's defence line to break up... that'll create an opening for a good through pass...

basically initially the cpu defence is all in place and your strikers are often covered.... so you move the ball around behind the strikers... and get one of the defenders to leave on of your players uncovered.. often when they come to get the ball from you... sidestep so you have a clear view and pass... pretty much like normal football (well maybe apart from the epl which has **** defences) you have to move the ball around till an opening is created...

if you want a beautiful through pass between a line of defenders well you have to put yourself in a good position.... your forward should be on the last defence line and about to make a run... and the defenders should be more concerned about stopping you (e.g. when you are close to the penalty box)... then you can pass through between two defenders and the forward will run and get the ball first

OKay Quick counter attack stratergy that sumtimes works head the ball out of the box to one of your midfielders tap the shoot button this will often catch the defence by duprise you can beat the opposition to the ball I've even made a clean breakaway and then you are one-on-one with the Goalie and GOALSKI!
