shaky screen on pc version

This question is for the PC version

This is my first try for FIFA (I'm a PES man) .. and during long passes the players become way too blurry. In PES you could fix this by changing the refresh rate ... any idea if this is fixable with FIFA 06.

I added that line and the players still get fuzzy and blurry on passes ... anyone else have any tips? I can't believe the game is supposed to play like this.

should I mess with AA or v-synch? These always seemed to help with PES ...

Is it OK to have my refresh on 85?

make sure your monitor actually supports 85 Hz.
also close any background tasks while playing, that can drastically lower your gameplay smoothness.

My monitor can support 85 ...

mouta was on to something, I'm sure. I really expected his suggestion to fix the problem here, and I'm not sure why it didn't.

I'm pissed that I wasted $40 on this game today. I'll sell it for $25 right now if anyone's interested. Brand-new. Four CDs ...

I and alot of people have had the same problem for years with Fifa games, I've tried everything to sort the problem out, but I figured the Fifa games are bad Ports, I can run other games including PES perfectly on maximum settings, so I know it's nothing to do with my PC hardware.

I don't have any kind of problem here and my specs are:

Pentium M-Centrino 1,8 Ghz
512 DDR2
ATI Radeon 9700 128 MB

The game runs smooth...

The combination of RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME with V-Sync has gave me pretty nice results. No more choppy gameplay or low framerate.

1. Add RENDER_EVERY_AI_FRAME = 1 to all cfg_something.ini file inside your data\cmn folder.
2. Turn on V-Sync from your GFX card's control panel.

Vsync is basically the synchronizing of buffer swaps with your monitor's refresh rate. With Vsync enabled, frame rates will not exceed the monitor's current refresh rate for that particular resolution. For example, if your monitor is using a refresh rate of 85Hz at 800x600, with Vsync enabled, you will theoretically never exceed 85fps. So the refresh rate creates an artificial barrier that limits the frame rate.

Vsync has everything to do with framerates... Not sure if it'll help with your problem though.
