sexuality: serious thread

I got no issues with anyone based on race/religion/sexuality, but I have to admit I find it very annoying when people walk on eggshells around Gays and others etc....basically anyone that could possibly accuse them of being predjudice. It's unfortunate because society preaches equality, yet at the same time creates a witch-hunt environment that encourages these (often unfair) accusations of homophobia and racism..

Maybe it's different elsewhere, but here in Canada our "limousine liberals" in charge are always reminding us of how great we are because we're such a tolerant multi-cultural utopia  , unlike our evil neighbours to the south... Yet, if you've ever lived in a place like Toronto, all the various cultures avoid each other like the plague....Italians and Portuguese live in a certain area, Chinese in another, these communities try to stay as far away from Jamaicans, Indians/Pakistanis, and the gay community, as they can, etc, etc...

Brazil's better. Multi-ethnic, yet not necissarily multi-cultural. Seems like a society based on true equality, at least that's my perception...

Anyway, Tony Montana dissaproves of this thread..

I don't have anything against homosexuals/bisexuals, it's just that growing up, I guess being "gay" was always associated as being wrong, and was always used as an insult (still is, I guess), so it's sort of been coded in me to be intolerant, or at least suspicious of homosexuals (sounds stupid. And no, I'm not intolerant of homosexuals nor suspicious of them - but that's sort of the way I grew up).

No I'm not trying to justify discrimination against homosexuals, but I'm pondering why there's discrimination against homosexuals in the first place.

But yeah man, full respect to you for telling the truth. Since you've posted here for a while, it would be interesting to see if people begun to act differently toward you after this, as though you were suddenly a different person.

a lot of people have the same "fear", for me this was the reason I was denying being the person I am for 21 years of my life,

but at the end of the day I have came to the conclusion that I don't care what other people think, they either accept me for the person that I am, or I don;t want to jhave aything at all to do with them.

part of the reason for this thread was to allow other people around SG to see how people react to the idea of there being non straight people around the boards

I full believe that there must be other people at least with doubts about their sexualty on Soccergaming, and if this thread helps them to sort things out, then it can onl be a good thing

so far the reaction has been extremly positive

note: the offer still stands for anyone wishing to post anything anonymously, drop me the message in a PM, and I will post it without revelaing our identity

I personally find the act utterly disgusting, I'll never be able to view a homosexual in the same light as I might do a straight person. I can't have regular conversations with them or anything, because deep down inside of me, there's a little devil that's just screaming "knock him the f*ck out". Alot might say it's because I'm not comfortable about my sexuality, but It's just actually my culture, and morals.

I'm not saying there aren't any homosexuals here, but of course its the vast minority. It's the same as 98% percent of Jamaicans don't indulge in oral or anal sex with a woman, that's just as disgusting, and morally wrong.

I just wasn't cultured to accept this way of life, alot of you have.

sportgaming, you're brave, you say that sh*t publicly here and you will more than likely be mobbed and beaten by a gang led by me.

Most gay people would also not want people doing that, they would not take offence at comments made in a light hearted manner, hell i could even take a lot of ill-intentioned abuse on the football pitch, you have to accept it as being a part of the game, just like someone carrying more weight,

aslong as the prejudice isnlt deisnged to intentionally hurt me personally, then people can say whatever they like

I am not someone who wants people to stop making jokes about gay guys, all that we are looking for is t be treated as the people we are, not the sexuality that we are.

For anyone to say that they feel uncomfortable around gat guys is extremly worrying, and portrays the image that just because someone isnl;t straight they can;t be trusted

if someone does try anything on, then does it really mak any difference if it is a guy or a girl who is approaching you???

if you are not interested, then you would just say so whether male or female, and take it as a compliment that they thought you were attractive

ok I've gone slightly off topic there, but the underlying idea is the same, male/female, gay/bi/straight, everyone deserves to be judged on the person they are, and not some man made lables,

if people take offence at jokes, these are very often the people who are not secure in themselves about the person they are, I acn happilly laugh at myself, and often do, to me if someone can take light hearted jokes in good humour, they are the most secure people around, too many people get easily offended today, and it just causes more and mroe problems

i have actually experienced a hell of a lot more discrimnation from the gay world than I have from the straight, a lot of gay guys see being bi as being in denial of true feelings
Yup....my gay friend was whinning about bi's the other day....saying that their all in denial, scum of gay society etc etc. Seemed really wierd coming from him (H)

I think the fact that you refer to "the act" in the 1st line makes the point which I made earlier extremly clear, would you be happy to accept a gay couple if there was no sex involved between the 2 of them. just a lot of love??

What I would say is that I would hope that the fact that I have been posting here for since 1998 would stop people from abusing me now that they find out I am not straight, as i am still the same person who they have been happilly communicating with for the past 7 years

i completly respect the position that you are in, and do not think bad of you at all. It si a culture that you have been bought up in, you personally could not do anything to change that

i can;t help but feel so sorry for the non straight people living in that culture, their life must be hell. I can guarantee you that there will be just as many gay people in that culture than anywhere else in the world, just that with the culture being as it is, they will all be hiding their true feelings. Sexuality is not decision, it is something that you are born with

in terms of being morally wrong, I am afriad that I canlt go along with that, to me any form of sexual encounters outside of a loving relationshp is wrong, but inside a loving relationship, what happens between 2 consenting adults, I simply cannot see as being im moral, but as I have said before, everyone is entitled to their oen views, and deserves to have them respected

it is extremly hard to gain acceptance into either the gay or straight community, as both feel that you don;t belong with them, the same goes for getting into relationships, people tend to think that because you are sttracted to both, you would be wanting both male and females sexual partners, which is simply not the case

that is as silly as saying that someone who is attracted to people with blond hair and black ahir would be wanting sex with 1 of each colour

Actually, this is "ultima ratio", in my opinion. I just can't imagine it: communicate with somebody, then find out that this man is a gay and stop communicating, forget all connections with him only because of his sexual orientation! What if your friendship lasted for years? It's a lot of time! Could someone act like that? I definetly couldn't.
Who cares are you a gay or a straight if you are a good man? If someone told me that my close friend is a gay, I would never stop friendship with him.

Portugal is a bit homophobic, to our shame, but things are getting better on all scales. And I'm sure people here will accept homosexuality once our greatest footballer in activity comes out of the closet (come on ::shinji::, we all know it don't we?).

im having problems not pointing and laughing at you man. since everyone else is standing up for you. but when hugo speaks i listen and i will try not to point and laugh at you. will u please just let me put this picture up though? :(

I believe in what nature intended. And I definitely don't think that homosexuality is genetic.

Of all the arguments posed against any form of non-heterosexual sexuality, the 'not what nature intended one' is up there with the most ridiculous of all. And the interesting thing is, is only seems to EVER be with resepct to sexuality that people argue in favour of what 'nature intends'.

If you believe only in what nature intends, then what the hell are you doing sitting in front of a computer screen posting a message on an internet forum? Because this is certainly NOT what nature intended. Ditch your cellphone, throw the television out of the window, move out to some remote part of the earth and start snaring and cooking your own bloody food over the open fire instead of using the 'unnatural' cooking method of electricity.

Stop shaving, stop eating anything from the supermarket, stop buying that Nike/ Reebok/ whatever clothing, stop travelling to work/ school etc. in a car/ bus/ bike whatever, stop using money, stop going to school. Stop working. Stop going to the doctor. Stop now you sicko. It is against nature to be doing all this stuff. Wrap yourself in cowskin, fashion yourself a nice spear and GOT OUT AND LIVE AS NATURE INTENDS. Those evil 'cultural' products are holding you back man. No doubt you will be aiming to die around the age of 35, since this is what nature intends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, where was I.... oh right. Full props to you sportgaming for posting such a thread. Certainly the best way of beinging the worms out into the light. I doubt I could be as conciliatory as you though, regarding people who view you as somehow deviating from some socio-cultural-political norm of behaviour. Because to me, something like sexuality is ... how can I explain... it just IS - and to hell with whatever anyone else thinks. **** em. Being anti-gay or whatever is just as insane as being anti-black/ white/ red/ yellow etc.

EDIT: should just add my own personal view - coming from a somewhat lefty-libertarian position, people can do whatever the hell they want as far as I am concerned. I have lived with bisexuals/ homosexuals/ lesbians etc. etc. in my time and it seems ridiculous to me to even consider what their sexuality is... it was never even something to think about. I have more problems with people who don't do their share of the dishes than I do with whatever/ whomever they want to do in their bedroom/ living room/ public park or whatever.
