Season 10 - Week 1

i had a terrible start. Lost 3-0 to Bideford, shocking performance. i guess i was expecting it, as i used a tactic i had not tested. i can only hope my luck changes.

Daylesford (owned by a woman) won 9-0, Etobicoke won 4-1, and so I sit 3rd after matchday 1 and I face Daylesford next week at home... this will be verrrrry interesting

This is really annoying me. Since the new sim has come in there have been so many match delays and down time that we've haven't had much chance to test tactics. MZ seem to have made a terrible mess with pre-season this time, with 2 sim changes and 3 promotion/relegation programmes. And the sim's still not up to scratch, if Chris' game is anything to go by.

I'm expecting to lose today because I simply can't find a tactic that works for me yet. Given more time I'll find one, but really I've only been able to test out 3 or 4 tactics at most since the 2nd sim update.

Up The Irons mentioned that he was going to use the 2 week break to test as many tactics as possible to find one that works. It all went tits up after the first day, as we couln't even see the results of games until over 24 hours later, so couldn't see which tactics were working.

I'll take any result today, and use a (hopefully) delay free week to find a decent tactic.

Mine and Ash's matches start in 20 minutes, and I think i'm as worried as him. I really don't have a clue what tactic my team should play.

Just quickly went thru Ash's match. I won't say the score, but:-

The English second division isn't too bad

I won 6-2 away from home to Allstars FC. I was expecting a tougher game, I was always leading then getting pegged back before scoring a further 4 goals. I'm going to be top because even though the other matches haven't finished, none of them are going to pull out a 4 goal advantage.

EDIT: Yep just checked, all the other teams won by a 1 goal advantage so at the top of the table by 3 goals.

For Doobs' sake! I won't blame the fact I got thrashed 3-0 on the 2 sendings off because they came after all the goals.

I thought I might lose, but the way it happened has annoyed me. I only had 30% possession, and 2 scoring chances compared with their 15. Arg!

Ah well at home next week, with my new striker, and hopefully another new player and working tactic.

Damn I'm going to get some stick from Nick after that one

Yeh I play Camberley in friendlies quite regularly. They are about as good as me... I win some, he wins some.

Um Rami... is 5-1 not a thrashing then?

Hmm, after some of these posts, I guess my draw wasn't so bad, as I feel kind of in the same boat. Even if 4-3-3 seems to be the best tactic for me, I'm not sure if it definately is (not had enough time to test, only tried one different tactic and then when I stuck with the 4-3-3, I messed around with pushed up and pushed back defences, the latter seeming better so far), and it's not working that well atm. But it may just be that some teams are getting lucky against me like today.

But I could've lost, so it could've been worse. Also note Unruly used a pushed up defence at home, I didn't and I was away, yet I had just over double the scoring chances. At least it seems that either 1) high defences don't have the effect they did on the old sim, or 2) my team is just better.

Christ the two strikers were having a bad day today. 39 shots between them, 29 on target and only 3 goals to show for it

But anyways, least I didn't concede considering 10-ball Peppin got injured (only 2 days). And at least I didn't use the 4-3-3 tactic or the one UpTheIrons suggested for me

Hope he gets a draw against Chesham next week though

Well, either way I'm not happy with that draw today. Got me other good defender back for the next game, should make a difference I hope!

Lost 4-3 away to a quite good team. My worse game in a long while

Had the lead by two goals with 10 minutes left though. **** happens I suppose.
