screen goes black then back to desktop

i had problems with fifa 2003, kept crashing to desktop during second game. always at the same time! thought it may be heat related so.....
took off side panel and directed household fan at MB + CPU. managed to play without crashing. coz of this bought coolmaster aero 7 + heatsink (approx £25) and have had no trouble since.
worked for me. good luck

I had a similar problem. Firstly, where did you donwload your demo? You might want to try downloading from a different mirror or an entirely different website.

Secondly I can tell you now that it is not your video card or sound card. Sometimes not enough power to your video card can cause this problem.

Re-installing windows is easy and should fix problems of this type. If you have XP it is cinch, just boot up on the CD and re-install it. It fixed all my problems!

same problem

as i click on the icon the screen goes black for 5 secs and then it returns to the normal desktop.............i have a amd 1ghz and s3 graphics card please help

i just re-installed my original driver and the game worked fine again.

Hey I have the same problem really frustrating I've downloaded direct 9 latest drivers same thing really depressing. Can anyone help plzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!

i have the same problem

ok i dont know why...i have fifa 2002 which works just fine...full version and demo...but when i downloaded fifa 2003 and 2004 demo..both didnt work...when u double click on the icon(start the game)..the thing open onlythign i can see is a black screen than it comes back to desktop........i really want to play this game...


and i saw one post say u get a error saying u need graphic acceletarion....if u get that problem.. than go to control panel than display than go to settings than advanced than go to troubleshoot and move the bar to full acceleration....
i have xp ..so i donno for win98...

and can any one please help me with the crashing thing...

i upgrated my video card driver from trident one which was there from the beganing when i installed xp.
via AC'97 audio controller (WDM)..
i didnt find any updates for this so i guess this is the new version...

ok yea i updated my drivers and ran the game same thign i cant it crashes when i start it...
any one have any suggetions???????????????????

Ok...

Here is my solution...

1. Remove Fifa 2004 from your computer
2. Install Fifa 2004 ( choose full instalation )
3. Download and apply v 1.1 patch. Here is the link:

(Note: DO NOT INSTALL THE OFICIAL PATCH FROM EA SPORTS, THIS WORKS MUCH BETTER )
4. Download and execute this file

(Note: You have to press the middle button, is in russian language )
5. Download and overwrite your config.dat whit this version:
www.nikovelu.home.ro/config.dat
6. Have fun & play the game...hope it works
7. If not, install your windows ( a clean install ) and DON'T install any codec and repeat steps 1-6.

Oh.. and download and install this NVidia driver ( you have to execute it and update your video drivers manually with this one ) :
* For Windows XP:

* For Windows 98SE/ME
http://downloads.driverheaven.net/omega/nvidia_w9x_omega_14523.exe
