firstly, not every system uses a withdrawn forward ... secondly, your mixed bag of defensive forwards don't even play the same role or position in their teams ... thirdly, how do your points relate to Zlatan? the guy who was second top scorer in last year's Champions League, with 10 goals in 8 games ... the guy who was top of the Champions League assists charts the season before that ...

My points relate to Zlatan who is in contrast selfish as opposed to those other players who do things that help the team, but take away from their individual accomplishments. But I do appreciate how you cite Zlatan's stats to prove that he isn't a stat hog. Wilt Chamberlain led the NBA in assists one year too, it doesn't make him any less selfish and me-first.

Cool old article bro. Yes he does.

wow ... I think Luisito is an amazing player, from a purely footballing ability standpoint ... but admiration for his personality, despite his bans for racism and cannibalism, says a lot ... when he handballed on the line **in complete defiance of sportsmanship**, he tried to act like he had done nothing when he saw the red card for it ... again, that you're fine with all of it says a lot ...

I'm not fine with Suarez and don't admire his personality. I don't buy that him biting players is "because he wants to win so much", it's just because he's a horrible person. My point was that he sacrifices himself for the team, both with that obvious example and with less obvious examples like his movement in games. His deeply flawed personality, more flawed than Zlatan, does not draw as much criticism from me because when he's on the pitch he is a selfless player, so I'm not constantly supplied with more and more evidence of his flaws each time I see him play. With that said, I bring up his racism constantly and I'm sure that you've probably gone out of your way on this board to defend him against my valid criticisms.

the selfish guy who's selfishness has been a major factor in taking you to 3 Champions League finals? yeah, you'd have been better off without him ...

I didn't say we would have been better off without him, especially not in 2010 when the squad quality was so low that relying on Robben was the best strategy. But I have noticed that when Muller replaces him because of injury, often the team looks better overall. I also think Robben has come a long way from where he was under van Gaal, which started after he came back from injury in 11/12 when the team did look better without him in the first half.

And again, it's always hard to argue this point because people will point to individual goals or brilliance and say "see how important he was!", but that is not a valid point IMO. It ignores that the team may have been more fluid without him and operated better; it's possible we wouldn't have won the 2013 final, but it's also possible that we would have won in 2012 without his misses. It's just not an easy argument to have because it's so hypothetical and the reason why so many Bayern fans were crying when Gomez was sold. Mandzukic did not replace his production, but Bayern as a whole was much better and that's just a fact. Speaking of Mandzukic, he's another player who has a poor personality off the pitch, but when he is on the pitch he is very selfless, although this is likely due more to a lack of talent (compared to other top strikers), so he has to be a selfless hardworker to play for top teams.

@ArdaTuran10line: The transfer rumors are not entirely correct. My agent is currently in touch with 3-4 clubs. I will update you all if a deal is made.

Also, there's a rumour that Pogba would be Laporta's signing and Bartomeu wants to sign a big name and a Xavi replacement until 13 July

The Von Trapps
you're delusional, Shifty ... you seem to want to buy into the dim-witted, controversy-mongering headlines, without actually reading anything factual ... every point you bring up is torn down: he *always* fights in training; he had one incident with some frustrated guy whose career is over ... he is vicious to his teammates; those same guys are some of his closest friends ... he does nothing charitable off the field; he is an ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme ... he doesn't fit into a team system; he scores goals, and he creates assists ... he's selfish, while others aren't; but you ignore the obvious signs about how selfish those others actually are when demanding star treatment for themselves ... you say he's a stats hog, but you have no evidence other than that which you have pulled from your ass ... you admire Suárez for once more jettisoning sportsmanship from the field of play, because *you believe* it's self-sacrifice and suddenly a beautifully just cause from a person otherwise deranged ... delusions, man, delusions ...

oh, Shifty-xifio still going on ...
Hahahaha... I don't think I've ever seen Shifty this pissed off at someone in these forums and actually getting into such a long and nerve-wrecking argument with anyone (especially Xifio). I've seen him lash out at Xaviesta for a couple of times (rightfully), but that's it I think. I just find it a bit amusing.

Yeah well, you're a noob. This is tame for a Shifty-Xifio argument.

Mr. Sacchi in the press today

"Ibrahimovic is one of the greats. If football were an individual sport, I think he would even be superior to Messi.

"This is a great strength, but also a limitation if he cannot work in synergy with the others."

Hahahhaha... "tame for a Shifty-Xifio argument".

Anyway I just wanted to say that I don't really consider myself as a noob anymore. I feel that I've reached the next level from "noob" level to whatever it may even be.

Sure I've only been around for three years (which is not much, but still a steady amount of time) compared to some dinosauruses who have been around here for almost fucking decades, already typing that word felt bizarre. And yeah I guess I gotta say here that you're at the top of that layer cake along with a few others.

I look forward to the English reaction upon hearing his pearls of wisdom ... I expect him to become an instant club legend ...

You are already deep in that position. And I don't want your team to ruin yet another German talent.
