I'm not fine with Suarez and don't admire his personality. I don't buy that him biting players is "because he wants to win so much", it's just because he's a horrible person. My point was that he sacrifices himself for the team, both with that obvious example and with less obvious examples like his movement in games. His deeply flawed personality, more flawed than Zlatan, does not draw as much criticism from me because when he's on the pitch he is a selfless player, so I'm not constantly supplied with more and more evidence of his flaws each time I see him play. With that said, I bring up his racism constantly and I'm sure that you've probably gone out of your way on this board to defend him against my valid criticisms.
I didn't say we would have been better off without him, especially not in 2010 when the squad quality was so low that relying on Robben was the best strategy. But I have noticed that when Muller replaces him because of injury, often the team looks better overall. I also think Robben has come a long way from where he was under van Gaal, which started after he came back from injury in 11/12 when the team did look better without him in the first half.
And again, it's always hard to argue this point because people will point to individual goals or brilliance and say "see how important he was!", but that is not a valid point IMO. It ignores that the team may have been more fluid without him and operated better; it's possible we wouldn't have won the 2013 final, but it's also possible that we would have won in 2012 without his misses. It's just not an easy argument to have because it's so hypothetical and the reason why so many Bayern fans were crying when Gomez was sold. Mandzukic did not replace his production, but Bayern as a whole was much better and that's just a fact. Speaking of Mandzukic, he's another player who has a poor personality off the pitch, but when he is on the pitch he is very selfless, although this is likely due more to a lack of talent (compared to other top strikers), so he has to be a selfless hardworker to play for top teams.

you're delusional, Shifty ... you seem to want to buy into the dim-witted, controversy-mongering headlines, without actually reading anything factual ... every point you bring up is torn down: he *always* fights in training; he had one incident with some frustrated guy whose career is over ... he is vicious to his teammates; those same guys are some of his closest friends ... he does nothing charitable off the field; he is an ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme ... he doesn't fit into a team system; he scores goals, and he creates assists ... he's selfish, while others aren't; but you ignore the obvious signs about how selfish those others actually are when demanding star treatment for themselves ... you say he's a stats hog, but you have no evidence other than that which you have pulled from your ass ... you admire Suárez for once more jettisoning sportsmanship from the field of play, because *you believe* it's self-sacrifice and suddenly a beautifully just cause from a person otherwise deranged ... delusions, man, delusions ...
