Because they'd all represent an upgrade over what we can field next to Matic right now. I suppose Xabi wouldn't make sense since Cesc could play there against weak teams, but Illara and Khedira are more along the type of midfielder I want us to sign.

He's not as fast and doesn't have as much stamina but he's a more reliable passer and more disciplined. He's a better fit next to Matic, probably next to Cesc, too.

Yeah right, that's why I didn't include him in my question.
I don't like Xabi's level at the moment. Although Madrid won the two finals, I think he made a lot of mistakes in both of them which people tend to forget. While Khedira's level is still a doubt, I don't think Madrid would sell Illarra for less than 30 mil. one year after they bought him for 39 (I think), and that's a huge price for him.

A few months a ago. Haven't heard or read anything about our interest in him for quite a while, at least in the portuguese media.

Speaking about Porto rumours, Marca says we're getting Oliver Torres from Altéti on loan. I reckon there's a buying option attached to the deal because our transfer policy doesn't usually comprehend nurturing youngsters from other teams.

thomas tuchel (mainz fc) -----> galatasaray

never heard of him but he is said to be a highly respected guy, much like klopp and heynckes once said he's gonna be the fc bayern coach some day in the future...

so, fill us in bundesliga experts?

For the reasons you quoted? Because he's a better partner to Matic than anyone else on our roster? I wouldn't get him for 25m, but if Madrid are looking to off-load I'd take him.

Tuchel is a good manager, I thought he was leaving Mainz because he had a job lined up at a better side in Germany but I guess not. I don't know much about him because I haven't watched Mainz that much but they've done well this season and most pundits seem to be quite big on him. BundesligaFanatic ran an article about him a few weeks ago, you should head there and read about him.

Great manager. Really can't believe he'd go to Galatasaray to be honest, he should be able to have his pick of German teams.

The Von Trapps
can't believe he wouldn't want to coach a potential Champions League quarter finalist equipped with a decent sack of cash, instead of kick around the Bundesliga for another season with a slightly less mediocre team?

While coaching a CL side would be great experience for him perhaps a better German side would keep him on the radar of the top German sides more. Ultimately I assume his objective is to coach one of them but if he wants to manage around Europe then getting CL experience early would be great. Not sure how much he'll learn in the Turkish league, although I guess the variety of leagues would make for some good experience, too.
