This movie is going to surprise many ppl IMO. (The reviews have been magnificent so far for pre-screeners)

I started watching all the rocky movies since last week <im going to Uruguay in 6 days so I wont have time for 3 weeks>.

Rocky- 5/5 Love this movie so much. Never gets old.
Rocky II- 4/5 - one of the best sequels I've ever seen. Really heart pounding.
Rocky III- 3.5/5 surprisingly clever script (has some great parts and is very entertaining)
Rocky IV- MOVIE- 2.5/5 but Entertainment 4/5 - The ultimate guilty pleasure movie in history. Just a 2 hour music video..........but so fun to watch.
Rocky V- 2.5/5- Best written movie of them all. (really). But the direction and story were lacking in something. Also the music "90s hip hop" ruined the mood for me (didnt feel like Rocky) and the final fight was a joke.
Rocky Balboa- Mason "The Line" Dixon might be the stupidest name ever heard (sounds cool with "The line" .........but Mason Dixon is a pretty fabricated name <apologies if it actually does exist>.

Atleast it's no : "Tommy "The machine" Gunnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!" (What was Stalone smoking?) :funny:

Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang and Ivan Drago are 3 badass boxing villains (especially Creed who I always thought was a great actor <carl weathers>)

ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY!!! :D

I'm certain there was one somewhere :S

Anyway, I have never seen a single Rocky movie, ever, but I will try to see this one because early indications show that it's gonna be really good.

If the pre-screener reviews are good, then it means the timeline of the movie isn't the same as the years that passed since the fifth Rocky. Something like Superman Returns taking 6 years in the movie but 20 years in reality.

I say that because it's physically impossible for a man Stallone's age to take down a current-day heavy weight champion (something that is most likely going to happen) in reality...

That said, I guess the boxing scenes will be the best that have ever been shown in the industry, coming 2nd only to the scenes in Cinderella Man.

Rocky is unbeatably. The next one's are quite boring except Rocky II. I hope that this will change when I already watched Rocky Balboa (H)

Starting XI
I liked rocky 4 the most forsure, although 3 runs it pretty close.

Loved the bit when the russian was pounding on apollo creed and the trainers ******* hysterical shouting, " Throw the toowwwel!!! Throw the God damn tallllllll" LMAO

Hopefully this next installment is as good as the Rockys up to and including Rocky 4

watched Rcky Balboa tonight, good, but totally unnecessary not adding anything new to the story. and for two hours, it had little action. teh first hour and a half is a drama, and then the last half hour is a 5 minute training and the final fight which was not excellent. oh yeah, and I didnt like Tarver/Dixon.

still, the music was good, stallone was good, good movie (Y)

The first movie is really good, I'd say one of the best boxing movies ever made. Hey, a movie with Stallone actually acting well must be a really good one. :P

Unfortunately (or not), watching the other movies of the series is kind of watching Rambo or Cobra -- it may be a bit funny, but the film is poor.

Finally got round to seeing Rocky Balboa. Being the only person in the world who had never seen a Rocky movie, I came into this totally fresh and hence I really enjoyed it. The main complaint seems to be that it wasnt much different from the others, but obviously this didnt matter to me, and I thought it was a really good film with a believable story and a particularly warm message. I actually thought Sylvester put in a great performance and his direction was good too, with some fantastic shots of New York (he had a GREAT DP) and good character interchanges. The rest of the acting isnt that great and is not helped by alot of overblown speeches, and I would have liked to have seen the story stretched a bit more - the jump from nothing to the big fight was very quick - I'd like to have seen some warm up fights and more training montages. However, the fight at the end was very well shot and all in all I really liked the movie and would definately recommend it.
