if carlos played LM or LAM there would be no doubting his "completeness" as a player, but he plays LB and to be a left BACK, back alos reffering to defender, you have to be able to DEFEND, DEFENDING is the pupose of playing in the back line, not linking the attack and defense, that's the midfield's job players like pirlo, emerson, de rossi, they link the backline to the attack

carlos is not and never has been a COMPLETE left BACK

2.) Czech Republic - I think we all know the reason why. They should get the best/most enjoyable to watch in Euro 2004.

3.) Hard to say who will take this spot there is good teams that can get here but which I think are:

Netherlands
France
Some Asian country
Brasil

And I`d be suprise to see Turkey or England here.

Oh yeah the europeans dominate Football whatever howmany World Cups have a euro team won out side of Europe? most of the Great teams are from S.A along with the best players S.A is where the passion is in football

If Roberto Carlos had not had the luxury to play for Brazil, which is a dominant nation, or Real Madrid/Inter, both very good teams, then his defending would be exposed at more regular intervals.

As it is, his defending - or the lack of - is exposed enough times already.

I can't imagine Roberto Carlos making much of an impact at, say, West Bromwich Albion, when he doesn't get much of the ball to go and attack.

His positioning is possibly his worst attribute, and he has very very little defensive instincts either.

His attacking skills make up for it, but as I said, if he played for a poor team, he would struggle.

Maldini probably wouldn't.

Now as far as this whole European mess. Europe has NEVER WON outside their continent. That why in 2010 its practically guaranteed that a SA team win, and in 2014 when its in Brasil Brasil will AGAIN show their dominance. Im not disrespecting the great football there, but honestly if youre gonna make a statement that your the only real continent that can play the sport very well, then you need a humbling lesson

were not saying carlos isn't good, he was world class in his best days.... but he would be much more suited to a midfield/attacking position since that usually where he plays anyways and that way the back can be covered....but hey i forgot, brazil rules all so there's not point in arguing
