RIP Hansie

As some of you may know, former South African captain Hansie Cronje was killed in a plane crash earlier today at the age of 32. It's been a sad and sobering few days for cricket. A few days ago spin legend Subhash Gupte died. May they both rest in peace.

Maybe it's just me, but isn't a "!" in an RIP message somewhat distasteful?

Anyway, it's sad to see Hansie go, many will now judge him in death as they did in life, and he has no chance to rectify his mistakes.

so you mean remeber him for his cricket then ? but do we even know which games he played to win ? or threw to lose? plus he influenced younger cricketers to play bad ... cronje is a disgrace for ever !

u'r right grassy 56 . though he was involved in match fixing , the matches fixed were only 2.and one of them when the bookie told him to lose ther match , they had won it.and in another match which was fixed , hansie was ordered by the bookie to bribe some players such as gibbs and williams who idnt take the money or something like that.

but other than this he was a great batsman . he had an average of 37 in odi's . he was one of the most succesful captain ever in the history of the game . its sad that even after he dies, people critize him and do not remember the positive things he has done for his country.

Hansie Cronje should be remembered as a great cricketer with a major flaw - a love of money. However when a death such as this occurs, it puts everything into perspective doesn't it? Match-fixing may be a great crime, but certainly even the death of the most well-known match-fixer has brought sadness to most of us.
