Valeron sucks. Xavi is better than him, Mendieta is WAY MUCH BETTER than him.

Spain is my favorite team not including Brazil, but Camacho really makes me nervous.

That match was AWESOME! After Spain took a whack at Ireland's defence, the Irish would counter-attack and have a try at Spain. It was really a rollercoaster of a match.

Ricardo, I thought the Spanish keeper was good as well. But during the Penalty Kicks, it seemed to me that the 2-3 goals he saved went straight to him anyways. Ireland played really well, but they had a really poor PK showing.

Seriously, I don't watch many Deportivo games, but in this WC I watched every Spain game and he's the worst of the midfield. Mendieta did much better than him in the last two games.

Duff was doin tremendous making opportunities. I would've preferred Quinny to take the penalty that Kilbane took, does not enthrill me with confidence.....

That game was Ireland's during the last portion of the game, but penalties was obviously a fault to their game......

Too bad that Ireland didn't make Spain pay for their arrogant way of playing. After substituting the forwards it was obvious that they were going to sit back. I couldn't understand why Ireland didn't continue their stormattack in extra time, they were cracking Spain up in the last 20 minutes! Oh well get your bags Spain, you're off after the next game.

woohoo good going Spain, what a match, the irish have nothing to be ashamed of, they played a fantastic game, and simply got unlucky in the PK's IMO i would much rather see the irish in quarterfinals then the germans, IMO they are a better team with alot more heart, but hey sh!t happens. But anyways, ireland really needs a good scorer someone that can put the ball away, anyways. good job irish, and sorry you ahve to go home... but go SPAIN!!!!! GO GO GO Españia!

The Irish team have done themselves proud, I think i the end they shoul have won the match. They just had no luck with the penalty shoot out, cruel way to go out.

Damien Duff was amazing, top european clubs will definetely move in for him now.

great game ... i thought the shoot out was good but you wonder why senior players like quinn and duff (well hes not that old but is wise) didnt take the penalties that kilbane and Staunton (i think took)

and ian harte missed a match winning penalty ... leeds should sell him to celtic while hes still valuble ... i dont rate him that highly as a player !

I thought Spain were going to choke again... but I figured they just wanted to get it to penalties where they would clearly be better than Ireland. You had to figure the Irish were going to botch their PKs or have them saved (Casillas rules!) I'm really surprised Spain botched two of theirs, it should have been over quicker.

You got to hand to Spain though they played through the overtime a man down so Ireland had their chance. (Anybody know what happened to Abelda, they said they rushed him off to a hospital?)

Mendieta is good I'm surprised he hasn't played more. Hierro almost blew it with that stupid foul. They could have held on and won it in regular time if it wasn't for that.

yeah that was an uterly stupid foul by Hierro, would have made the mach simpler and less tireing for the Spanish. As far as Albelda goes, he screwed himself with aggrevating his groin injury, with which he was already playing, sucks, they sent him off to a hospital somewhere so as to do tests on the injury, and then depending on how well he is, he will start training again.

Great inspired play by Ireland. I give them full respect. But for some reason we didnt play our style after the goal.

I mean, Spain defending a 1 goal lead!?!?!? We should have done what we always do, ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK.
