im having the same problem as you, we have similar hardware too 6600gt, 1.25 GB and a athlonxp 2500...

on my bro pc who has a radeon9600xt runs smooth as silk with 4XAA and AF enable...doesnt make sense

Some Solution?

YES. and then some:

- Defragmented the Hardrive
- Removed the Demo (for space and incase of any conflicts)
- Added "CProgram Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 06\fifa06.exe" RESOLUTION=1024x768x32
(to the shortcut and with the space)
- Updated Direct X 9.0c (although I have that on already)

The game still stutters every 20 seconds or so and makes it virtually unplayable

BTW. The demo ran pretty smooth on my computer.

Has anyone who had/has this problem found a solution yet? Thanks

Could anyone who has got the "RENDER EVERY AI FRAME = 1" code to work in Fifa 06 (full version) post their files somewhere. e.g. cfg_pc_h.ini Thanks again

Try making a "resolution shortcut", so the resolution is set "outside" fifa 06 it self.... worked for me...
It's the same trick used in the demo...there's a topic about it here on the top of the forum.

I'm running the game on a 6600GT, 3200+, 1 GB RAM...at 4xAA, 2xAF, at a consistent 60FPS: no problems whatsoever. Maybe upgrading, or possibly downgrading, your graphics card drivers may help. Updating your MOBO's drivers certainly wouldn't hurt either. Try experimenting with VSYNC being turned 'on' or 'off'.

Having thought back to what my original settings were when I first started the game (not sure if is related) but

• Ref and linesman were off/disabled
• Ref/linesman setting off is ONLY in "cfg_pc_l.ini and cfg_pc_m.ini [files]"
• Ref/linesman setting on is ONLY in "cfg_pc_h.ini [file]"

Ok, those are the basic settings

From what I could gather my settings have been set to use either cfg_pc_l.ini or cfg_pc_m.ini due to no ref or linesman being set in game.

Due to the game using a lower detailed config may in some way cause problems. However I think there may be a conflict between the 3 configs and thus the following I did to sort out the "stuttering problems" (fingers crossed it is sorted)

Default location for cfg files

CProgram Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 06\data\cmn

Moving CFG files and Adding RENDER EVERY AI FRAME = 1 to "cfg_pc_h.ini"

1. Create a New Folder e.g. [cfg_(orginal_l_m)] to store the files for emergency purposes
2. Move "cfg_pc_l.ini and cfg_pc_m.ini [files]" to the created folder
   
   You should now only have "cfg_pc_h.ini [file]" in the \cmn directory
   
   e.g. CProgram Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 06\data\cmn
   
3. Right click "cfg_pc_h.ini" and
4. Open in Notepad
5. Copy and Paste...
6. RENDER EVERY AI FRAME = 1
   
   I put this text just below "SKY_RENDER = 1"

ALSO

Resolution Short Cut Trick

1. Right Click Fifa 06 short cut
2. Look for the target box and put a space before typing...
3. RESOLUTION=1024x768x32
4. Line should look like...
5. "CProgram Files\EA SPORTS\FIFA 06\fifa06.exe" RESOLUTION=1024x768x32

AND

If possible reduce the number of applications you have running in the taskbar e.g. I stopped Microsoft Antispyware and another firewall but still kept Norton Running.

Lol I tried what you described above with Fifa 2005 and now it's running like a train I guess I was used to the stuttering after all that time, it's like very fluid now, I really see the difference, I don't have Fifa06 yet but it should work also!

i think the problem is ea dont know how to code properly
i just palyed nba live 2006 and i couldnt belive how smooth and solid it was
it jsut goes to prove the point that the ea canada douchebags dont even play their own games. still if u think its bad on pc, try playing it on the psp u will never experince anything worse in ur life
