Can't say I'm surprised or saddened by this news. Their is no denying that regularcat has made some significant contributions to the SG community, but his arrogance and overwhelming feeling of self-importance has consumed him.
I am not at all surprised by his decision. In fact I was wondering why he is not quitting. Definitely its a loss for the community, but it is a decision that everyone should honour (not those who are just newbies and to those who think RC is just another Tom Dick or Harry). It really hurts anybody who sees that he is constantly being harassed by slangs from newbies if he delays his releases. Particularly the way he was harassed yesterday was totally uncalled for (someone questioned his contributions!!!). But at the same time it must be said that he was a bit more arrogant to some newbies than required (but again it may have come from constant rude ungrateful behavior of many).
Most ppl think that only they have got real lives to live, and the contributors here are mere ZOMBIES who churn out downloadable stuffs for them. They too have lives.
RC, enjoy your life. We will miss you (and you will miss us more for sure), but you have made a correct decision, a decision that will affect many but not affect most newbies.

the issue stems from ignorant people who plain dont or want to understand what is being typed in posts, mine & others threads.
the constant spamming, requests & inquiries of release dates, etc even after reading that this bootmaker doesnt accept requests, or a release date has already been given, or simply saying something foul about somebody or somebodys work in their threads, etc.

ive spent hours on this forum & on msn helping people constantly w/ all aspects of fifa.
how to import files, explaining what files are & what they do, using teamviewer installing mods for people as they watch & learn, tutoring on how to make this & edit that.
things you dont know about me man, so its easy for you to say some dumb s**t about me.
i dont deserve the s**t i get from the members here, & neither do the other modders who spend their free time editing for you guys, when they could be out doing whatever it is they want to do.
trying to get things done for you guys by a certain time or date, because they said they would, sacrificing their own time.
& if its a day later, you never hear the end of it, instead of ah thanks man, great job & take your time when its finished its finished.
would that make you want to continue doing anything for anyone here ?
ask any modder how they feel about it, they will tell you the same thing i just told you.
only difference is they may stay quiet about it, as i speak for everyone, regardless.
so if you feel that way about me thats fine by me, but use better words to describe me.

Cat's patches are all great, i don't really know what shall i do without them. I almost quit for fifa 10 but after cat's gameplay patches i've started it again. So cat if you doesn't want to share ur works no more it's ur choice. Anyways thank you very much for great work you have done previously and shared that with everyone.

Hi! cat. Take it easy. Try to reduce the workload, it is not your responsibility to help peoples that way. This is more than enough that you have to support your Fifa mods only. You should take a rest, but don't last too long. We will miss you much. Sometimes, modder's idea that we don't know, interactive is most important.
