Frankly speaking I cannot find anything that needs to be tuned after V8 except heading animation. But again thats a part of animation patch I believe.

What do you chance to prevent the keeper rushing out to close down wingers / attackers at the edge of the area (towards the side lines)?

There are ways to solve it, but you'll wind up with glitches if you aren't careful. RC's a.i. has improved goalies but they still charge. the goalies in my a.i. hardly charge at all, only on 1 on 1s and are very conservative in general.

set everything to 0.

although conservative is good for gks, its not realistic.

i have made it where some will rush & some will not & depending on the situation it will vary.

setting everything to zero will help, but it will also cause bugs and glitches in how the keeper reacts and makes decisions. some parameters need to be zero, other parameters should be there original value or modified value.

realistic isn't charging and leaving a wide open net. in real soccer, keepers only charge on clear 1 on 1 breaks.

The reason why it is important to have conservative keepers in FIFA 10 PC is because when you are controlling a team, you want to control when your keeper charges. You don't want your keeper charging at times when you are setting up your defense as if he is guarding the goal. You can always hold down the goalie charge button if you want him to charge.

i know this is your intention, but are there goalkeepers in your game that never rush? What attributes create this variability in goalkeepers enhanced by your a.i. values? goalkeepers don't have individual styles that say "this goalie charges a lot", "this goalie is conservative", etc. Ideally, it'd be nice to have some keepers that charge, some keepers that don't, some keepers that charge only when their team is trailing, some charge only towards the sidelines, some charge straight ahead in the middle of the field, but in reality it's nearly impossible to get this perfect. And despite your intention regularcat, and correct me if i am wrong, but it seems that there is no way to make a specific goalie play conservatively or charging a lot. Given this, I simply make all goalies charge less and it creates a more balanced game where goalies are smarter and actually defend the goal.

This is why I made the decision to create conservative goalie A.I. At the end of the day, goals are easier to score when goalies charge. I like playing against hard goalies and i like deciding when my goalie charges, not when the A.I. decides it. That's where the zeroing of parameters comes into play. Conservative goalies can charge at loose balls like they should, just not dribblers. In my A.I. the goalies job is to give the dribbler the toughest angle possible to score. if you play 4 or 10 minute halves, you need charging goalies to create easy goals so it's not 0-0. If you play 45 minute halves, then you need realistic conservative goalies that actually make you work for their goals.

You rarely see goalies charge in real life the way they do on default GK a.i. settings in FIFA 10 PC or on console versions of FIFA 10. I've been smoothing off the anchor angles, finding the ideal speed values so that goalies move laterally, guard the post, and give oncoming dribblers a hard time.

There are four boolean attributes in the player data that you'd have to suspect (are at least supposed to) affect keeper behaviour - comesforcrosses, puncher, rushesoutofgoal and staysongoalline - with the latter two sounding like they might play into the behaviour you are talking about. No idea whether they make any difference, however.

Great find. Now that I have some stability in terms of gameplay tuning, I took a look at those attributes in DBMaster as you said. I changed the goalie of one of my favorite teams to rushesoutofgoal=0 and staysongoalline=1. i just went into practice arena and he seems to stay on his goaline more and move laterally between the posts even during 1 on 1 breaks. i'm going to test this in a full game and see if there is any difference.

But for anyone who tests these goalkeeper style parameters in player attribute data in DBMaster, which is essentially what these four boolean attributes are (comesforcrosses, puncher, rushesoutofgoal and staysongoalline). They are supposedly goalkeeper styles.

I don't know how extensively gameplay modders test such values. If I can observe that these values work and stay unique between a range of charging values from ai.ini, then we my friends have something really good.

757, there is a attribute titled aggression, thats what controls who charges more than who.

which goes w/ the gk charging aggression multiplier in the ai.

set some good gks agg down in cm10 & test & you will see it does control it somewhat.

So much realistic. What have u done with the goalies. They are so much pro-active or reactive. Collisions, buildups and defence have become better.

Believe me, I used to score 2-3 goals in average when I used v8. I played 2 and half matches, and scored JUST ONCE, that too was almost saved by the goalie. My defence has also become better by magic.

Will take some time to get accustomed really.

i changed a few things in the ai, reworked attributes & some other stuff as well.

as long as it reached my expectations it was ready for release.

im happy w/ it, i have tough & exciting matches w/ it, so im good w/ it myself.

ill just wait for the 11 demo, if its exactly like 10 i had been playing on xbox 360 for about a week & the demo 11 for xbox 360 is better ill be moving to consoles for the year, & will only be around for commenting on peoples creations.

& if comes to that, ill be back for 12 when pc gets p+ & pp, which i think will finally make a game 13 years in the making somewhat realistic.

console is a better option for the fact pro passing is going to be phenomenal, considering human & cpu will no longer be able to complete ridiculous thru balls all the way down the pitch facing their own gk.

& i really like the fact the cpu players who specialize in tricks will do them not only effectively, but at the right time also.
players who excel in passing will shine in the midfield, etc.

ive done the absolute most i could in the ai to bring forth some type of feeling of individuality, but after everything i have done, i have
failed in doing so.

its the only aspect of realism, i couldnt get it right.
