Reasons for players being excessively tired?

Well, I was just wondering what could be the possible reasons for players to get drained out. In the past, when I mananaged Leeds, there was a bad spell, where almost the whole of my first team would be "tired".

I know a couple:
1)Intensive training regime
2)Matches scheduled too close together
3)Poor squad rotation

Any others?

Intensive training programmes are most of the time the reason, especially pre season and say Champions league qualifying round 2 and round 3, and sometimes the charity shield. On the last game of the season, I stick my team on intense, 2 weeks before my first game they go on light training, 1 day before they go back to my normal training schemes.

Matches too close together take the biscuit, I attatched an image of my San Jose. 14 games in 30 or something. 1 every days, I was switching between reserves which my eldest was 21 and youngest 16 and my first team squad.

Squad rotation I never seem to use, mainly because I like the players to form a bond, get to like each other and be on the same wavelength.

The main reason though for fatigue, is tactics. If you have a DL an DR who are defending deep, then up as wingers when you have the ball, they will be running about all over the place. Try to keep the players runs to a minimum. When making a tactic the show/hide runs there comes in handy, just to see how much distance a player has to cover. This plays a major part in the tactic.

Your players should also have good stamina. I try to use in easy matches the players than in a difficult are usualy subs. This prevents the players to get exhausted, at least this works for me!

Some younger players can't deal with playing a full match. This is the reason some may have been tired.
Low stamina is also another reason for this.
At the start of the season you generally get tired players because they are getting back into their fitness stride

I think you have hit the nail on the head! Most younger players have really low levels of stamina. I do find this aspect of CM a little unrealistic, shouldn't they have a higher level of endurance and stamina than their older counterparts? Hmmm..I may be wrong though. :)
