I dont know how Madrid did it, but Beckham has been amazing for them, he isn't the same player who used to play for United

i've been saying this. the marseille match was the first time i saw beckham playing a full match for real madrid...and i was shocked. i've never seen him trying to take his man on, willing to get dirty and defend, and even back heel balls to teammates. i know it's only one game, but i was pleasantly surprised. i'm so used to seeing him stuck on the right and just bombing long balls into the box. he's still running around all day but it's nice to see him play the ball.

and their defense is so terrible that they need someone to do what Makelele used to do for them

Ideally Madrid need 2 good defenders and Helguera can take over his original spot in midfield and win balls, make tackles etc.

Beckham is wasted in the middle. He should be in his customary position as they are gonna miss out on the only thing hes good at - getting in quality crosses.

well, yea zidane and figo aren't gonna do the dirty job. isn't cambiasso supposed to take on makelele's role anyways? you're right, i think beckham's best spot is on the right no matter how much he wants to play in the middle or whatever. i'm just glad he's showing more of himself than he's had before..or what i've seen before.

I don't see a problem with David Beckham wanting to play the center right midfield position. He is easily a more aware defensive player than either of Figo and Zidane, and still has the ability to bomb passes to Raul and Roberto Carlos deep on the left, as well as a steaking Salgado on the far right side or Figo. He has many options in midfield.

I've noticed Beckham has been putting forth a 110% since he's joined Madrid, and really folks... we've only lost *one* game, and that was before coming back to win the second leg against Mallorca and winning the Spanish Super Cup. We've won all our other games aside from a tie with Villareal, so the team is in great shape.

People can say whatever they want about our defense, but Madrid do not allow many shots due to fabulous ball possession by our midfielders. Also, having Salgado and Roberto Carlos on the sides provides amazing speed. Casillas is also a very capable young keeper that has already won alot.
