Newcastle will host a pre season tournament but I don't know if it'll go ah ead as there will be riots for sure with Feyenoord involved.

RANGERS could be facing glamour sides Feyenoord, Sporting Lisbon and Newcastle United in a prestigious pre-season tournament at St James's Park before the start of next season.

The Club has confirmed that discussions have taken place about taking part in the four-team tournament which would be held on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 but a contract has not yet been signed.

It would be a tremendous warm-up for the new campaign, especially as the SPL starts on Saturday. August 7 and the Champions League qualifiers fall on August 11 and 25.

Former Newcastle boss Ruud Gullit is taking over at Feyenoord in the summer so his return to the north-east could be interesting and Sir Bobby Robson used to manage Sporting, taking them to the Portguese title.

Rangers have sour memories of their most recent clashes with Feyenoord as the Dutch side knocked the Light Blues out en route to the UEFA Cup in 2002.
