RANGERS have signed one of France's hottest young properties, who is dubbed the next Zinedine Zidane.
Hamed Namouchi has signed a two-year contract with The Gers_and has been widely tipped in his homeland to go on to emulate the mercurial talents of 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 winner Zidane.
Namouchi, like his illustrious compatriot, is of North African extraction and came through the ranks at Cannes, where Zidane also began his career before going on to mesmerise fans at Bordeaux, Juventus and now Real Madrid.
Namouchi_told the club's official website_that he hopes to grab this opportunity under the guidance of Alex McLeish with both hands: "I'm very happy to play for Rangers and I hope I can do well here.
"I have already played beside some of the first team players in the matches I have been involved in so I have a good idea of what is expected here.
"I can play right midfield or in the centre and I like to get forward to support the strikers.
"Everybody knows Rangers. They are a big name in Europe and I heard a lot about them before coming to Glasgow.
"So when I was given the chance to sign a contract I didn't hesitate."
Fellow French youngster Mark Kalenga has also been snapped up by the Scottish treble winners on a one-year contract from Auxerre in what is a major coup for Ibrox youth department boss George Adams.
Unfathomably-rich Premiership side Chelsea were also interested in Namouchi and had eyed him in some training sessions but they have lost out on the French-Tunisian youngster to the SPL champions.
Adams added on the club's official website: "He (Namouchi) played with Cannes and came over here highly recommended and spent a week to ten days with us on trial.
"He played one Under-21 match and two practice matches and that was enough to convince the coaching staff that he was good enough.
"We were tipped off by contacts about his standard. He had been training with Chelsea and then we managed to get him up here and he liked what he saw at Murray Park.
"Mark was with Auxerre and he also plays in midfield but he is a different type of player and he will go into the Under-19 side.
"He will be longer term, but he has adapted well and already looks as if he can fit in with the other players."
