quick boot question

ok, so ive got a game next week on an astro/artificial turf. usually we play on grass fields, so all i have are FG boots. i dont want to buy an astro turf boot just for the occasion. so i was just wondering, would it be ok if i use the FGs on em? i know SGs are a NO-NO, but what about FGs?

replies would be much appreciated :coffe-anim:

I don't know what FG stands for, but using the shoes you use on grass is fine on artificial as well, as long it's not an really old artificial field.

yup, fg work just fine. have fun cleaning out the little rubber pebbles that'll find their way into your boots. and keep in mind, the ball never stops on artificial turf. like, ever.

nor-rbk, FG - firm ground, SG - soft ground

farmboy, thanx for the tip, although ive seen the pitch where were gonna play n i dont remember seein any pebbles...the turf is almost "carpet-like"...like a huge blanket of sort...

you can't see it, but the base of the carpet is made of rubber, which makes the surface softer and more "ground-like." over time, that rubber gets beaten to all hell and starts to break off into little tiny pebbles that spray everywhere whenever the ball hits the ground. but maybe you'll be lucky and the turf will be brand new and not destroyed yet.

Wait, is this the carpet-over-concrete astroturf, or the new generation plastic grass?

If it's the old crap, running shoes may well be your best bet.

As a person with a gimp ankle, the carpet is the bane of my existence.

All we have here is the crappy old stuff.. But its for the hockey, and if its one of them feilds, its best not to wear boots

right, thanx for the tips again...
i'll have to double check the place then...not sure if its the old or new astro fields...i remember playing on one of those plastic grasses before...but this one seems more like for the hockey ones...not sure...
but yea, if its for the hockey ones, FGs not good then?

not at all, the hockey ones are just concrete floor with a few cm's thick carpet over it basically

i dont see how its really safe to play a football game on it, it would be very painful for the goalkeepers and players that slide tackle

i've been enough of a dumbass to do it. burned a hole in my favorite pair of shorts and got rug burn down my whole thigh. anything to win the ball, right?...

Almost all of our away games are on astro turf these days. Some really suck and some are quite good. All are very painful when falling.

can't you borrow some astro turf shoes from a mate or an injured team player or someone has some spare ones?
