Hey guys, i'm currently playing on the Medium sized DB, and i've currently got 512 RAM, what's my limit, will i be able to handle the Large DB and how many leagues can i run in extra detail?

I got 768mb (since yesterday, yay ) and im kinda having the same problem, with my 256mb RAM I played 5 leagues on small, now I dont know how much leagues+size will have about the same speed. I could use some help too.

About your specs, I dont know what you prefer: a lot of players from different countries or a lot of playable countries. If you're going to large DB, I would recommend only 1 or 2 countries (3,4 leagues) It also depends if you are patient, are you willing to sacrifice playing time for extra players? I prefer a click and play style of game, but some people dont mind the waiting

Ive got 1Gb of Duel Channel RAM and i am currently running 24 leagues on Huge database quite comfortably if that helps at all

Have 256 ram so that sucks. But i'm playing 5 leagues on large database and i dont mind waiting. In fact. i do my homework while waiting. I'm gonna save for a new pc later at the end of the year.

The number of leagues and detail are what weighs towards the running speed, the number of players and the detail are important when saving and loading.

If you don't mind waiting a little longer when saving, you should go for large db, but forget the extra detail. Keep the number of leagues low as well. I play 8 leagues currently, with a large db and no extra detail, on 768 MB. I have no problems.
Try running 4 or 5, I guess. Go back if it's too slow for your liking.

i got a laptop on the weekend with 512mb and im playing on normal with 6 leagues from 5 countries, it goes really quickly and theres enough detail.

go for larger db because it will take longer to play a season; hence being more realistic

however if you want a quick game do not under any circumstances select it.

I guess it depends on the clock speed of your RAM as well. My brother has 1 GB of 133 MHz RAM, and it's no where near as fast as my 768 MB of 266 MHz RAM.

I have a 512mb RAM and I'm running 12 leagues from 5 countries with normal DB size. The loading/saving takes about 15 seconds, and the game runs quite comfortably.

seriously that much RAM is decadent, do you really need that much. I'm on 512 and its like "whoa that's fast"

Im doing a little testing tonight (there's plenty on tv i want to see, so im gonna do the testing in the background while watching tv Ive tested 2 settings so far, and they are pretty interesting IMO, when I finished the complete test, I will report all the things, 1 thing I can say already: retaining all the players from a country definitely makes the game slower then selecting the highest league from that country... something I didnt expect

To find out how much RAM you have on XP, you need to right click on your "my computer" icon, and select properties. It'll be mentioned on the bottom line.


If you need to know how fast it is, without opening up your case, you can get a small tool like SiSoftware Sandra (Lite) to test that.
When you open it, there's a window with icons. Double click the "mainboard information" icon, there will be a section, somewhat down the page, with the heading "Logical/Chipset 1 Memory Banks". In there is the speed indicator.

I have 768 DDR RAM, 2.4 gHz processor.

I took over RKC and cancelled all the friendlies, I didnt change anything for the rest.

With 5 leagues:
-Dutch (premier and first)
-English (premier)
-Germany (bundesliga)
-Spain (primera)
with ddt files from france, italy and portugal

on small database:
creation time (ct): 10 minutes
processing time 24 july-17 august (pt): 14 minutes
number of players in game (#p): 40216

on normal database:
ct: 14 minutes
pt: 19 minutes
#p: 48366


With 8 leagues:
-Dutch (premier and first)
-English (premier)
-Germany (bundesliga)
-Spain (primera)
-France (ligue 1)
-Italy (serie a)
-Portugal (primera)
no additional ddt files

On small database:
ct: 5 minutes
pt: 11 minutes
#p: 17338

On normal database:
ct: 9 minutes
pt: 15 minutes

With 5 leagues:
-Dutch (premier and first)

On large database:

Another time Im going to do the large database with 5 leagues+3ddt and with 8 leagues

IMO it are pretty surprising results...

Mine you usually takes about 7 minutes to create with 7 leagues and 2 ddt files. It mostly depends on processor speed IMO.

Well i just started a new Game, Huge DB, 7 leagues running, took an hour to create with 512 RAM, Large takes about 10 - 15 minutes, i think i'll stick with large.
