PS2 FIFA patching

I have FIFA 2006 for PS2. I see all these great add on patches for the PC version of FIFA. Does anyone know if there are patches available or what to edit to make things like CPU subs work for the PS2 version?

I have a sony hard drive in my PS2 and I can put the fifa game on it and export it to my computer. I can see the files just like the PC users can. What files do I edit?

This is similar in logic to what the WE/PES community do with their patches for the PS2 versions of WE/PES.

Is it just easier to edit the "extracted" files on WE/PES than FIFA?

Really the only thing I want is to somehow edit the files that would allow CPU subs.

Can someone at least point me to the file that may contain the data that needs to be edited?

ok it gets crazy.

I made the change to the INI.BIG and recompiled the ISO. All it does is load the FIFA splash screen and freezes.

So I checked out the PC CPU subs patch. It said to just copy the included CONFIG.DAT over your current CONFIG.DAT.

So I said what the hell, and copied the PC CONFIG.DAT over the PS2 CONFIG.DAT and rebuilt the ISO.

Guess what? it works, the CPU now subs. BUT there is a new problem.

Because it's a PC CONFIG.DAT, it's looking for PC style saves (profile, rosters, etc)

So now I need to know how to edit a CONFIG.DAT file. When I load it in Notepad it's all messed up, in wordpad it's a little better but not much.

What's the best thing to load a .DAT file with so I can see it properly?

just wondering, is there any chance editing kits and stuff in the PSP version of fifa 06?

Ok tried a few different FIFA raptors and still no luck. I can't view/edit the CONFIG.DAT with any of them.

I also narrowed the CONFIG.DAT problem down.

With the PC CONFIG.DAT I get CPU subs and I can save my roster and profile to the memory card, but I cannot load the file. So I have to make a new profile every time I start the game up and I can never load my roster changes.

I am so close, it's killing me.

Try using BigGui for opening Config.dat

Sure enough. CPU subs enabled on the PS2.

I am now going in and messing with the AI settings per the threads here.

To get more swerve on free kicks for example.

I also changed the minimum amount of players per team in the transfer area.

What file do I need to access to find the player name database? I would like to be able to change player names and default ht and wgts. If I could change their appearance that would be a huge plus, but names height and weights would get the job done close enough.

The PS2 has a 40 player edit limit so being able to change them on the PC would be huge.

Ok good deal. That is tomorrows project then.

I have done some good work with the PS2 roster and if I can get the file up for edit on my PC I will make a great roster save/file.

Please pardon me in advance for asking questions borne purely from ignorance of the subject.

I also have a PS2 version of FIFA 06, and, after reading the posts to this point, have some questions about modding the files using BigGUI and uniDB.

I've placed my game in the DVD drive of my pc, and can view the game files simply by clicking the drive icon on the 'My Computer' screen. Having uniDB on my pc allows me to view the INI Big file using Notepad, where I can apparently edit the file, although I've yet to do so.

I've not had any luck in opening or reading the fifa.db file using BigGUI so far. I keep getting an error message stating that the BIG file did not open, any suggestions?

Speaking of the 'DO_CPU_SUB = 0' line in the INI Big file, I happened to look at the same file from the FIFA 2005 game, and noticed that that line is exactly the same as in 06 (DO_CPU_SUB = 0). Of course, 2005 DID substitute players, so what would be the difference?

I'd simply love to see the game substitute players, as well as have the ability to circumvent the 9-character limit on editing players' names

Thanks, in advance, for any input.
