[Preview] Manchester United v. Juventus[Preview]

It's only a few days until the UCL restarts and what a match we will have!!!!!! Manchester United vs. Juventus!! Post your thoughts on the match here.

I think the match should be a close one, and United haven't been in great form lately. A draw in the derby against City and a loss to Arsenal are hardly the best way to build up to this match. Juventus on the other hand have been in good form and currently lead the Serie A and I wouldn't be surprised if they are the bookies' favourites for this one. However, United are at home, and Ferguson would have reshuffled his tactics and had a 'chat' with the players, so I'm picking United to scrape this one by a late goal. The loss of Veron and possibly Beckham is a big double-blow, and Ferguson's side should be interesting. Should be a great game to watch - it always is.

Starting XI
Lippi and Ferguson stand 3-1 in favour of the Italian.

I am counting on both teams attaining away wins or two draws. Man Utd will miss Veron who has experience against Italians (played in Serie A) yet Roy Keane could be the difference. a big match player who has decimated good ol' black and whites before. I don't believe that van Nistelrooy will be a problem. He won't do much with the tight defence and man-marking. He might score a tap in. Beckham won't do much either, unless he gets a set piece and is really on fire, he won't do much...... with the tight Juve defence. Giggs explosive pace could be the difference as well. Even a Veron special in the second game. For me, Man U's main man is Keano.

Juve. In great form. Covering for the loss of Del Piero should be right, Di Vaio and Trezeguet doing pretty well. Davids will control the defensive sector of the midfield. Even with the injuries at the back (some players just returning) the defence is always super tight. Nedved will create havoc. Zambrotta could have some interesting runs from defence and Camoranesi is going great guns. Yet, Juve recently have lacked in Europe, but this is a different team.

I CAN'T WAIT!

Man, these are two big guns coming face to face.

Both have very good world class strikers, its gonna be close but i just feel as if Manchester is gonna win, and hopefully they do.

I just feel as if Man Utd is better as a team, they work more efficiently together.

I know for a fact that this game is going to be:

OFF THE CHAIN! :rockman:

Keano - agree

Beckham - disagree. He's been in very good form lately and has made some magnificent passes. He should be a real danger for Juve on the right. However, I do get the feeling that Nedved can force him to play in his own half and reduce his threat, a bit like what Roberto Carlos does to Beckham too.

van Nistelrooy - Sort of agree. He doesn't create as much as the likes of Del Piero, but has the knack of slipping in behind a defender to make it look like he was left open in the first place. He's always dangerous in the box.

Veron - agree. he will be sorely missed, but Paul Scholes is just as good on his day IMO.

Giggs - depends on how those hamstrings feel and whether he's put that miss against Arsenal behind him. He's a strong bloke mentally, though, and he should really be determined to prove his class.

I agree with you about the Juventus players. Di Vaio and especially Trez will always threaten, and Camoranesi will be the unknown quantity as we have never faced him before. Defensively for you I think Thuram and Tudor will be hard to beat(unless you play someone else who's equally hard to beat:D), while Ferdinand and Brown should keep it tight for United. But this game will hopefully be remembered for sublime, attractive, attacking football and a Manchester United win:D

Time to release the frustration of being unable to win the Quadraple onto Juventus.:hump:

Ferdinand and Brown will keep a close eye on the DiVaio and Trezeguet.

Keano will outmuscle Edgar Davids in that tight central midfield battle.

Ruud will slip in behind the defenders to get a couple of goals with Scholesy also making some dangerous runs into the box.

United to win 2-1.

Got mine too. We'd better put in a better game than our last 2 home matches. :)

Champions League form seems to be consistant this season... more worried the attitude of the players after the Ferguson and Beckham incident :(

Starting XI
I dont think Giggsy's confidence would be affected after the Arsenal miss, I even have a feeling that he will score a goal.
Rio Ferdinand and Silvestre are my favourites in defence on this one, they have been on a good form.
I am also worried about the Fergie and Beckham incident, but since it was an accident, the probability of this incident affecting the united game is low.
My prediction:2-0
Ruud and Giggs (or Scholes)
oh and Ruud will score two goals which will be offsides :D

Unfortunately, Iuliano and Tudor are also ruled out for the game.

Juventus always has an incredibly tough defense and the only way I see United scoring is off a penalty here.

Juve will win and here's why: Ferdinand will pass the ball to Trezeguet and front of the goal and Trezeguet will tap in.

Seriously.

Nedved will show his real class and Beckham will become too worried to be a force in the game.

I cant see 2 stiches above the eye keeping Beckham out of this. Its a minor injury. both teams have key players out, Juve seem to have a couple more starters who will miss this one tho. Davids vs Keane in the midfield will be interesting. Camoransei vs Giggs? wow.

This will be a tight match, and hard to predict much here.
A draw or a win by 1 goal is all anyone can really say I think. I hope Juve and Man U go through in hte group tho because I support both of them. So a draw with scores that favour their overall goal differential somehow would be good...heh.

Damn, not Tudor aswell.......that guys a tower..........not to mention a defender that can score goals aswell as some attackers! (H) :rockman:

I would have said a 1-2 win for Juve, but then i heard that several plays got the flu........so i'm guessing 2-2 :)

No Iuliano, Tudor, Di Vaio, Buffon, Zambrotta, Del Piero, Birindelli or Salas:eek:. Juve are sending over a fairly weakened squad this time, but they still have Trezeguet, Davids, Camoranesi, Nedved, Thuram et al, so they will still provide very tough opposition.

It would have been a tough game if Juventus werent plagued with injuries, and Manchester United distracted with these recent stupid events (maybe it wont tho). Ryan Giggs must practice his shots maybe ;)

Look like Becks will still play even after the booting incident, I hope the match don't get postponed though, doesn't Juve have depth in their squad to cope with the absence.
