We will be soon posting a patch that will contain the following>

Full Commentary for all teams and names (prem/div1)(including extra replacement voices from ron atkinson!
(main commentary is from brooking/motson and ally!)
Crowds with team chants and new `hostile sounds!!!!```dont ask !

Two full leagues of Prem and div1 teams
full kits for both divisions(we are currently testing a batch file that will contain english 2/3 div, this will depend on the working stability of the stadium batch file)

boots/flags/ball&loader/new nets/

stadium design for prem teams with batch file for swapping to div 1 stadiums(this part is currently holding the file finish date!)

new playing surface

new weather(including heavier rain!)

the main part of this patch will be released in the next week to 10 days, this will be the commentary(demo)...we hope to have the graphics soon after, most of the above has been tested and is stable with all current pro evo official patches.

We started work on this patch around 18 months ago when we first heard of this games release on the PC platform, therefore we where aware of the games shortfalls and worked to address them, this patch has an official feel about it and is no way the work of sub-standard model creators, we have worked on audio converters for this game and also dos applications to write the files needed to edit this game, the end result has been worth it.

we could list in detail what this patch contains but it will basically be a re-write of the core, we have very good programmers who have spent many many hours on the development and we hope you all here will enjoy it.

now comes the bad part!......you will have to pay a fee of around for this patch(PENNIES!!!).....it sounds bad but there are wages to pay!!..if you guys support this patch then this will support its development!...as said above the first patch will be commentary and will be free, but the complete patch will have to contain a charge, we hope to include pictures along with the download link that will highlight the new graphics!....

release date Feb27th2004(COMMENTARY demo)
demo will have standard crowd from original!

release date Mar12th2004(COMMENTARY full/Graphics)
small fee on D/L for this file.

release date Mar12th2004(GAME EDITORS graphics and sound)

THIS IS THE FILE YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR.

future patch `Portugal 2004 Euro`....we hope to finish this before the start of the championships later this year....work is on-going but the above patch is taking our personal at present!...

The legal point is a good one. Would be very worth looking into it.

On the other hand, if the patch is what it promises and the payment methods were easy (ie PayPal?) I'd be willing to pay.

Good point about the legality of this - as you are using Konami's product as the basis for your creation, and then making cash off it (albeit small amounts), i would be very surprised if Konami didn't have something to say about this. I'm perfectly willing to pay a small fee for what sounds like an amazing patch, but i do wonder if you've checked the legal side of things?

There have been countless professional mods for other games -Half-Life is a prime example - where the end result has been as slick as the game it's based on, but very few of these have charged for their use. The ones that have, have been sanctioned by Valve (makers of Half-Life), but in these cases i think they actually put money into their develpoment when they saw it's potential. I think there was one called the Gunman Chronicles (or something like that) which started out as mod, but became a full game with Valve's backing when they saw it's potential. I'm pretty sure Counter Strike started out as a mod also, but was soon taken under Valve's wing.

You may have looked into all this already (and to be honest, it's probably quite careless of you if you haven't), but i would be interested to see what Konami think about this.

i don't see the point in charging anyway. Once 10 people have 1/10 will upload it to there server and the rest of the community will have it! Some people don't even pay for the game let alone a patch!

Share and Care alike :)

That's very true. I think there is a strong resistance from alot of people (not necessarily on these forums, but in the games community generally) against paying for things like this. Even the game itself many people will download as opposed to paying for. And you are just an individual, not a company, so there is arguably even less incentive for someone to want to hand their cash over to you. Not to mention the problem of 'advertising' and making people aware your product exists. I know a few people who have PES3 PC who were unaware about the whole modding scene and that correct team rosters/kits were available. I wonder, aside from the legal issues, whether you'd sell enough to make remotely enough money back from it.

I admire your cheeck of asking for money for a patch/mod. Look at the Battlefield1942, there have been two mods (read, completely new games) to add to the game, for free. How can you possibly ask for money for making a patch, the whole point of the community is to make things and share them free of use. Plus the legal side is a valid point as you would have to pay Konami if you make any money from this patch...

BF1942 is a good example also. And atleast the BF1942 mods offer an entirely new playing experience - what you are offering is merely cosmetic. Sure, it will enhance the game playing experience somewhat, but hardly any further than what the current FREE patches offer. Even the commentary patch is currently being worked on by Nack, and i'm sure he has no plans to charge for it.

And as Phil mentions, i am certain you will have to pay Konami if you are asking money for this. It will probably be at their discretion, but no company in their right mind would let someone else make profit (however small) from their creation.

I got all excited until i saw you have to pay :(. Money isnt the issue just the hassle of credit cards or sending money through the post just for a patch. Well i ill just stick with the Wolf/Kibble's/Andy's wonderful "free" patches.:)

Wow everyone is being WAY too nice......I WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS PATCH. Plain and simple. I mean look what Wolf, Kibble and TONS of other patch makers have done. NONE of them have asked for a single dime! The least I can do is click on an ad or 2 when I vist The Wolfs site. Dont give me that crap like you worked super hard on this and you want some kind of reimbersment. Cuz then I would owe The Wolf/Kibble HUNDREDS of dollars lol;) You wont make money buddy. Once on person get a hold of it, its gonna spread like STD's on this site. Shame on you for asking for money. I cant remember a SINGLE mod/patch that asked you to pay. I sure hope KONAMI finds out about this.....SHAME ON YOU:kader:

I wouldnt be willing to pay for a patch either, the whole point of a community is to share etc and when you think of how many mods are out there which are twice as good as this will probably be.

Maybe you could consider a contribution method, i.e donations, rather like the merciless mod for battlefield had.

Personally i cant see how you can change enough to warrent ppl paying for it, it cant be that much different from wolfs and Co patches tbh, most of it will just be editing apart from the commentary i suppose, guess just wait to see the final product.

Im sure it will be a great patch and that other ppl will be willing to pay, so i wish you good luck.

I can send you a postcard ;)
you know, there are freeware, shareware and postware (or cardware or smth like that)
I'm interested how you could make new rain, you've found where "rain textures" are stored in data_x.afs ? So you can make snow either ;) :rockman:
anyway, good luck too

Many people here are confused...the patch in question is a complete re-write of sorce code contained in the game....

We are aware of P2P and openly support those actions, so therefore we do not have a problem with it, although we would like to say that once people use this patch they will request that updates and the euro2004 release date, this is dependent on the finance we recieve for our current work....no cash no patches!....

Konami have tested this patch and have allowed us to promote its official release with full backing under the existing development of ProE4(due dec2004)...we hope to write source code for this title.

The fee we charge will be for development not for greed....without this we cannot continue to produce code as it takes many many hours of work for our 3 man team.

Please try and hold back from judgement until the patch is released, you will be amazed how much more is possible in this game, we found the foundation was there but the knowledge of English and european football was not!....it is now!

March 12th 2004
Play it the english way, total football.
