The way i see it. If you support an english club and live outside of England, then just save up some cash and take a weekend trip down to england or go there for a holiday. Its gonna be a much better experience than having to go to some nearby city and watch the same teams play it out. Sure might be a bit more costly, but hey if people can afford to go to the carribeans once a year then why not england?

BTW, a few posts back there was talk of players making millions, hence they should be able to take an extra game. Whether they make millions or not, that doesn't make their body any less tired from extra budren, we have already suffered in terms of quality of football at WC 2006 and EURO 2004 because of top players playing too many games. Just because i get paid 100k pounds a week instead of 100 pounds doesn't mean that my body will be able to handle more physical activity a year.

I was about to say that...I think in today's world where everything is turned into a business, it is natural that people will do this to the most popular sport on the planet...there might be a noble motive of taking the game played at the highest level to overseas fans but I think preseason tours are and should be enough of a "preview"...you gotta go to your respective clubs homeground to experience them in full motion. That way, its a win-win as the overseas fans get a taste of what league action is like and then the club can have more loyal support overseas. The club's base should be its home where it was formed.

Fan Favourite
Good, Asian and Australian associations are opposing the plan, so we got nothing to worry about.

of course, there is no way this will be beneficial to their domestic competitions, its obvious that they wouldn't agree.....

Lol, you gotta love the Saudi's requirement of "Manchester United, Chelsea or Liverpool". And what the states want Sunderland and Reading?

The USSF is mostly opposed, actually.

Scumdamore (sic) is still harping on that "all 20 clubs fully support the proposal" in his latest soundbytes to the media. Apparently both Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic's owners raised concerns over the "39th game", but he's adamant that it's got the backing of all the clubs. Pathetic. Time for this nonsense-talking moneygrabber and the rest of the Premier League top brass to resign en masse.

AFC may be against this idea, but they were also totally against Man U playing a match in I think Malaysia last year because it clashed with the Asian Cup or something. End of the day, money talked, the Malaysian FA granted it and the game went ahead.
These FA's may be on their high horse now, but when money is flashed around it will be a different story.

Well whatever way, FIFA have now stated that they reject the plans, and it could well have a negative bearing on England's plans to host the 2018 World Cup as well. Good. As a sheepshagger native I don't want them to have the World Cup! :)

Still the talk about the Premier League's globalisation project rallies on, Scumdamore really needs to shut that greed-filled trap up right now, because he is very quickly turning into the laughing stock of Britain. He is still persisting that the 39th game plan will press on and that it has the backing of all 20 clubs, a complete lie given the actual quotes of some club chairmen and also some managers.

Time for Scumdamore and his comic troupe to resign en masse.

Dying a death

looks like this idea may just fade away.

The Premier League pulled out of a meeting with UEFA, about the idea, in order to have a deeper look at the plans. The Premier League can't be as confident as they once were

In actual fact the meeting was with FIFA but hopefully this means the Premier League has finally realised their globalisation plan is dead in the water and we'll hear the last of it.

FIFA has unaminously rejected Gam£ 39...

Fifa's executive committee has unanimously opposed the Premier League's plan for overseas matches.

The Premier League unveiled proposals on 7 Ferbuary to host a 39th round of matches across five cities across the world from 2011.

But the plan has received a hostile reception and was quickly rejected at Friday's committee meeting in Zurich.

"This idea to play a 39th round outside the country does not work," said Fifa president Step Ladder.

"They would be playing 12 hours away west and east and 24 hours difference in the south.

"Even the former chairman of the FA, Mr Geoff Thompson, said we should oppose it."

The Premier League pulled out of a planned trip to see Bladder on 28 February.

A statement from the Premier League at the time said: "We will conduct further internal studies and consultation before seeking the advice of Fifa."

Take that Scumdamore, now pack your bags and resign for being such a money-driven c*nt.
