I think the 2nd one doesn't look good at all... it sorta just looks like you ran orange-brown clouds and multiplied it over the original. The first one is nice, except for the few spots where it's too pale. I think if you find a good median between 1.0 and 2.0 it will be perfect.
Nah, the second one I just did variations for a bit, I probably went to overboard though.
