Poor Cambridge United: Fans resort to selling priceless memoires.

Check out this, this is truly sad. Man...that guy should be given a medal for being such a good supporter. Poor Cambridge, relegated, then having to sell off thier star keeper to Everton. To add a bit of saltwater to thier relegation wounds, they nearly went bankrupt and had to enter admin to keep alive. They were thus deducted 10 points, which would have put them in second last instead of last. Even now they aren't out of the oven.

I mean, having to little girls all the way from London coming up to give 3 pounds of allowance money...that really gets you.

Damn, that is such a sad story. It's a stark reality for clubs at the other end of the scale, away from the glamour of the CL. I can relate since if Pieman got his way, we would be playing at Murrayfield now and almost certainly dead. Certain *Fans* take a leaf out of this man's book.

It shows that the hardcore fan is a dying breed. :(:( Still this man is a fine example to others. (Y)

Man, this absolutely blows :|
"I'm prepared to give up the programmes, cuttings and autographs I've built up over 61 years and they mean a hell of a lot to me.

"United have given me a way of life and there are 3,000 loyal people who follow the club."

True fan indeed: I know it sounds empty, but im going to proliferate this story on other footie boards i post on. Is the 'Next Friday' they refer to the 20th or the 27th?? If its the latter, i will have a job, and i will surely give a small monetary contribution

Oh dear, it's this friday. I thought it was next...even less time. Ah, how I wish I had a credit card (I don't :nape: ). Anyway, I've posted the same topic on every other board I'm on, and sent an email to the club wishing them luck. Useless I know, but at least it's something.

Just donated.

As a Cambridge bloke, it's sad to see your local club fighting against closure :(

The official website is positive though...

Donations continue to flood in to Cambridge United's campaign to raise the money needed to bring the club out of administration.

Fans' Director Brian Attmore was effusive in his praise for the efforts of the club's supporters.

"We have received hundreds of donations ranging from £5 to £5,000, with over £1,000 a day being received through CFU's Internet Paypal facility alone," he told cambridgeunited.com.

"It is quite humbling to witness the support that United fans are giving their club."
