Kader, it does confuse people, of course it doesnt confuse me, but i've seen MANY parents walk out of the shop because they were told they had a "xbox 360", only for their kid to say its the wrong one. THEN they get angry with it all and walk out.

You might think this is just a solitary thing, but it was happening numerous times a day.

I dont know the statistics Kader, but i know that every single games magazine in the UK critisced Microsoft for their dual packages, noting that it was not only detrimental to customers, but also to the companies sales figures.

""I really want a PS3, but theres two bundles and i dont know which one to buy, I'm too lazy to read up so I just won't buy either one"... how likely is that?"

very likely Kader, clearly you dont know of many council-estate-parents.

agree. they are quite a lot of people who didn't know whats the hdd use for. t will end up being frustrated or angry because they have to purchase the hdd separately. this apply to the controller as well.

good thing was SONY didn't take out the hdd from 2 bundles but i feel they made a wrong decision to take out some features, HDIM and Wi-Fi. taking out internal features are more dangerous than external. it might cause a lot of people who end up buying 20gb bundle just because they feel the storage capacity are less important but realized they don't have HDIM port which they can't output the best quality on HDTV and Wi-Fi which you can't online through wireless router. i knew someone is happy to plug the ethernet cable into their PS3 but i believe most of the people doesn't want to

well the big decision Sony correctly made was to include a HD in both, so this shouldnt really be too much of a problem apart from a bit of confusion (as highligted above) to less knowledgeble buyers, essentially; parents.

so what? how many people do you think will actually have their PS3's hooked up to HD Tv's? Most kids will just have theirs hooked up to their ****ty ass tv's in their rooms so HD Tv compatibility really doesn't matter.

i dont reckon it matters anyway. Saw a HDTV in operation today for the first time, didnt reckon much to it.

I don't know man, I work selling these things and I've never seen this happen... Half of the time people know exactly what they want, the other half they don't know the difference between core and premium and I give them a 10 second run down of what HD vs No HD means and cost benefit (price of a HD, wireless controller) and then they decide. And then it's "I don't have Xbox games anyway, so Ill just stick with the cheaper" or "The premium is a better value so Ill get that".

Never ever seen anyone walk out of the store without buying one if they came in with the intention of getting one. What I did experience was about 10 people calling every single time I worked in November/December/January "Are any 360s in stock?"

A difference of a $100 is big when you're talking 300 vs 400, I think it's good to have different versions, for people who really want one but dont have a lot of money and dont need the extra features.

Exactly as I said, just means more money for Microsoft.

Nah i see where you're coming from, and to be fair, i dont work there anymore (just worked nov/dec/jan), and i saw numerous people walk out, or often storm off because of the lack of explanation. Even when we tried explaining to customers about the core/premium packages, here in the UK i guess people dont like big companies TRYING to get them to pay more. I just think when you tell people about the HDD in the premium and the wireless controllers, a lot of people got really angry with why Microsoft were (in their eyes) forcing people to buy the more expensive one.

Like i say, only worked there for three months but it happened a lot. As for the 360 phonecalls, you're telling ME! (H)(H)(H)

"Ahreght mate, phoned 10mins ago but you said you havent got any... got any now?"

I kid you not :(

In the new June edition of Electronic Gaming Monthly, EGM confirms Square Enix's popular PS1 game, Final Fantasy VII, is under developement for the PS3.

EMG states, " Last year, Square Enix teased everyone with what was called the "FFVIIPS3 demo." Well, what do you know: This test case was really a sneak peek at a next-gen revival of the PS1 role-playing hit."

not sure it is a good thing or bad

oh for the love of god...

UK price of high-end version of Sony's next-gen console may cost $200 more than US counterpart; no-frills 20GB model may not be option in region. By Staff, GameSpot UK Posted May 19, 2006 10:51 am GMT

Sony Computer Entertainment UK has confirmed that the retail price of the 60GB PlayStation 3 is currently planned to be £425 ($799) in the UK--although there is still a possibility that this will change before November's launch. SCEUK MD Ray Maguire told industry magazine MCV that the "60GB version looks like £425 in the UK at the moment".

However, there is no guarantee that the cheaper 20GB console will be launched in the UK. "The lower-end 20GB version of PlayStation 3 has no Wi-Fi, no HDMI, and none of the other slots in it, so it's really a question of where we would position it. It's more likely that we will only launch the 60GB version," Maguire told MCV.

A price point of £425 would, at current exchange rates, make the UK console over £100 more expensive than a direct conversion from the $599 US retail cost, and about £10 more than a direct conversion from the European price of 599 euros announced at E3. The 20GB version will retail for $499 in North America.

Online retailer GameStation has closed its preorders for the 60GB console "until Sony are in a position to confirm initial allocation volumes".

The PlayStation 3's chief rival, the premium Xbox 360, currently sells for £279 ($525) in the UK. The same unit costs $399 in the US.

This will change, mark my words.

Question:

Will the PS3 be able to read any PS1/PS2 games from any regional codes (PAL code) or (NTSC/J code) into (NTSC/U/S) & vice versa ?

well i know it's maybe very early, and that everybody's got different opinions, but i'd like to know, bottom line, which console - "premium bundles" - do you guys reckon will be 'better'? 360 or the ps3?

PS3 in my opinion, but the only reason consoles are ever better than each other is what games are made for them.

I think the PS3 will have better games (and more of them) made than the 360.

Hardware wise, i expect they're very similar.
