Unfortunately not, because the game will only be released in Europe.

But I think you will be able to play it online from CAN or any other place in the world where there is ADSL.

*EDIT: OK, as I read in other threads, I don't think it's possible to play online in CANADA, but maybe 2005, when WE comes to you ;)

I'm a displaced Brit living in the US, so I'm wondering about this too.
I don't have X-Box yet, but I'll definitely buy one for PES4 online.
I'm guessing we have two possibilities:

1. The PES4 disc in Europe will be published Region-0 (not locked) and switchable between NTSC/PAL50/PAL60 (I think previous PES discs were). You import the PES4 game from a UK retailer.
In this case a native US or Canadian NTSC X-Box should be OK. Maybe. The problem might be that you'd only be able to play against people in the US or Canada (because you bought the US/Canada X-Box Live Starter Kit). That might not be many potential opponents.

[Does anyone know if the X-Box Live Starter Kit's contain a DVD for setup, and if that DVD is region-locked to each market? In other words, does a UK Starter Kit installed on a US X-Box allow for online play across the pond (ping permitting)?]

2. The PES4 disc in Europe is Region-2 (or 3-6 or whatever). In this case you'd need a modchip to play it on a US/Canada X-Box, which probably means you couldn't play online anyway. You'd have to import a UK X-Box Console, UK Live Starter Kit and the PES4 game disc, and buy a voltage converter and a PAL-NTSC converter (or a multisystem TV). If you do all this you should be fine to play, although you'd need a pretty good DSL/Cable connection (down AND up).

I plan to import a UK X-Box, since I already have the conversion hardware and a 1.5M/768K DSL line.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Of Course you guys can play it ! Liek me!
Just get it for the PC....it's a DVD..so it works perfect....

Or get a flip top PS2 for the PS2 version and a DVD Swap MAgic Card.....But the route may be best for you..pkus the Wolf makes all his patches specifically for the PC...and he;s the best in the bizness...

i don't get this ****, why is it only released in europe. Why do companies do that, wouldn't it be smarter to release a great game worldwide.

Yeah, it's just bad marketing.

WE8: International will be available to the US in Spring 2005...half a year after the rest of the world can buy it. I'm assuming that WE8i will be available in Canada, and if it's not, you should still be able to buy it from the US and play it in your XBox/PS2/PC just fine.

As for playing on XBox Live...I would have to imagine that you'll be able to play the people in the US, but not the people in Europe and Japan because they aren't even playing the same game that you are.

PES4=Europe (comes out Fall 2004)
WE8=Japan (out now)
WE8i=US (comes out Spring 2005)

Confused? lol...
