PES5- backwards step or give more time? (my rant)

PES5 ? Just bought it and spent last nite playing it. And I have to say I love it. Its got some great touches and I think its going to turn out to have a lot of depth. One thing I like is the off the ball collisions, previously if a player was not challenging for the ball he was like a ghost, now they have collisions with players not on the ball sometimes - very realistic.

One little gripe tho - why can't you turn off the radar? You can only choose top, bottom or translucent. I used to always turn it off, I mean, who uses it anyway, you never have time to look at it.

What I like with PES is that they don't overhaul the game and all the moves like easports do with fifa, just always improving and adding more detail

well santos.. everybody uses the radar! At least most ppl do...

It's the only way to time ur through lobs back from ur defenders to ur attackers without being offside...

Anyway... they should have put the option... just like they should have put the crowds ON/OFF option instead of just removing them during the play... no biggie for me, though.

Don't speak on behalf of ''everybody'', please. I almost never take a glance on radar aswell and I know other guys who also do not use it.
I know where my players are when on the ball as I'm paying attention to formation of my team and individudal player tactics so I'm aware perfectly well how they would behave. And the fact that you see a promising opening on the radar does not necessarely mean you will make use of it. Ball might get intercepted/miscued/overhit and so on.
And the main thing - radar looks DAMN UGLY. It spoils the immersion. I would prefer playing with maximally minimalistic hud and appriciate if they made the strategy marks and attack/defense bias slider even less obvious on the screen.

Oh-kay...
I know others who spend the entire game looking at the radar... no biggie... Konami shud have made it an ON/OFF option to be suitable for all tastes... I used to play a soccer game called 'Striker' like 12 years ago... it had the option...

As for the ugly thing, well with Fifa06's new 3d radar view (Xbox360, check the screenshots), I guess Konami will be forced to improve its dull military style radar with its next installement...

Yes, those kind of things should be optional. One of the biggest errors a lot of game devs are making is not leting people to choose. This is significant ''feature'' of many games of many genres in past 5 or so years. Lack of choice is one thing that may distract many eventual consumers. And it does.
