PES4 to PES5

Having been spared the grisly nightmare of the FIFA series thanks to a DVD-ROM last year, I never got to make use of the facility in PES4 to import settings from PES3 and was wondering how well it worked.

I'm hoping to dump a load of edited players into the unregistered player slots of PES4 and import them into PES5. Can't see why it won't work - as long as it was OK last year and the same feature is in this year's game.

If this works, the gulf between PES and FIFA will be extended well beyond Chelsea@21 Points proportions in my estimation.

Thanks Dude

Apologies for the ambguity.

In PES4, there is a Settings Menu which has a tab named "etc" from which you can (and I quote) "convert edit data from the options file of the previous edition to the options file of this".

ie you can drag all of your edited data from PES3 to PES4.

My question is - did it work?

And does PES5 have a similar option to convert PES4 data?

If the answer is YES I can sort the rest.

Thanks for being 1/258 answers to this post.

Okay I understand you now.

Well I don't know if it does, since I only played the demo at the moment. When I get the full game in a few weeks time, I will let you know :)

BTW I notice you from Leicester UK, check out my site for some cool LCFC mods. All the best.

Kindest regards,

Many Thanks

Thanks Ajay - and thanks for the details of your excellent website. It's just what I've been after - especially the modding tutorials.

Way to go, Dude.

Planet Really Rather Good

I got my PES5 from Play.com this morning - not bad for £17.99 plus free postage methinks.

The joy I had loading it up was on a par with the day I got FIFA99, back in the days before said game began to take a dive by cranking up the irritation factor.

Everything loaded up and everything worked. It was seamless. Beers all round.

Now that I've had a chance to look at it, I think I can answer my own query.

The PES5 Settings Menu does indeed allow you to import your PES4 options file - but I've not yet figured out how. The Options file has to be in the default directory otherwise it won't work, and when I tried it out a message is flashed up to the effect that appearance characteristics cannot be transferred (for obvious reasons given the yummily customisable player editing facilities). What happens next is anybody's guess. It pops up a window to say it's done the job but nothing appears in the Save directory and when the game loads up, everything is sat at default. Not sure, then, what the point of this facility is - unless I'm missing something.

So - scoops of cred to Ajay for his excellent modding site and also to Yannick.

Let me know if there's an apocalypse - I'm locked in for a weekend of editing....
