PES4 at Gamestars Live

Ok, I finally got round to visiting Gamestars today and got a chance to play Pro Evo 4 on both the PS2 and Xbox. Couldn't see any noticeable graphical difference between the two versions, they both looked pretty much the same. Started up a game against some random person who was Italy while I was Brazil. First thing I noticed was that the interface and menu looked much cleaner and clearer, more Fifa-esque. The menus were also easier to navigate and loading screens had also been reduced, especially in the PS2 version. Gameplay wise quite a few changes. Seems Konami have been busy on their own first-touch system which is a joy to play with. The touches of players now seem more realistic as do passes and shots. Goalkeepers were better in PES4 making more saves, although at times I wondered if they were superman the way they were able to make a double save from two close range shots that no normal keeper would have managed. I scored first from the penalty spot after a trip in the box. 1-0. I then got my first look at the advantage system which I got rather annoyed about. As my player began to run into the box, the opposition player slide tackled me and although temporarily stopped my player running, my man was still able to continue with a one on one chance. At this point the referee decided to blow the whistle and award me with a free kick just outside the box. Damn! At free kicks, corners and penalties boxes flashed in the corner of the screen which allowed you to change types, e.g. lay up and shot etc. Referee got in the way occassionally while playing but nothing major. No noticeable slowdown either. Game seem more fast paced. I scored a second within 60 mins from a one on one. BTW one on one chanes are now far harder to take.
New cutscenes are good, particularly liked the ones where players were stretchered off to receive treatment and were then allowed back on later.

One question. WHAT camera mode were u playing on?????

WIde?????? Because if there is no slowdown on WIDE than this is the best news of the day.(H)

EllMichaels, you play WE8?

I laughed when you mentioned getting tripped up in the box. This happens way to much in WE8, I've found -- to my advantage. I've won many games as a result -- and many times I got awarded PKs for getting shoved, not even tripped up!

Sounds like this sh*t's gonna continue to happen in PES4.

I'm I the only one with this complaint? Surely, it can't be that I'm the world's foremost expert in drawing fouls in the box.

Or perhaps my strikers all have hidden special abilities in this area. If that's the case, I'm not telling anyone who I use.;)

No. PES4 will be released mid-October. The version I played was a 75% complete version (which would probably explain why the main menu had both Japanese and English subtitles)

I would guess replay thing would be changed toward the end of the games completion. It wouldn't be a priority, and at 75% done, it's perfectly possible longer replays could still make it in the final game. With the amount of calls for longer replays to be implemented, and the ability to replay anything at anytime, i can't believe Konami would ignore all this.

Stuff like this is decided before they even start making the game.

Sorry, I can guarantee you that there will be no longer replays.

Replay lenght is pretty damn fine to me. Jumbo is right. Konami won`t update any major things in PES4.

People who played WE8 already know most of the news what you wrote. So just read WE8 impressions and keep in mind what people already know, therefore you can post new things that are in PES4.

hire is my first impression of the game.
i whent to play pes4 for my first time to the game sters,
and i had a chance to play around 9 games from 10am to 18pm, coz there where so many peaple queuing, to play that blody game. my first three games, i played was in xbox, and compering the graphic its not so diferent to that in ps2, but the game playes preefct in both counsels, and i didn't notice any slowdown. i had problem playing the game in xbox coz the gamepad its different to that in ps2, so i had to play simple football just passing around not many skills i used. and i dont think the black and white buton its practicle for me, but the guy i was playing with, he had no difficulity with the xbox pad at all, i think u get use to it i suposse, but when i played the game in ps2 it was realive for me, and it was greate fealing to play the game.

GK it is improved overall,

DF they got better header now, but with less marking, if a Striker like henry got the ball in space, it is impossible to catch him up unles u got fast deffender like R.carlos.

MD make some good runs if u look on the map sometimes, and it seams more easy to dribble around if u got a player with good skills. i like the new passing(long/short) crosing on the sideline its effective, but crossing the ball from the sideline to the front its completly different from the previos game (no more auto cross) the cross go in 9differet direction, but i think i need time to master it.

ST when u tryin to scoore a gool u need to fine speace otherwise don't bother taking a shoot.

I am no gonna mantion things we sed 100 times like catscens and the new FK tape etc, they all look impressiv and i have to say that the game plays smoth, it feels different but not so different eather. With littel practik we all gonna love this game:rockman:

i don't know how the game feels against CPU thow coz i havent try it yet. but playing the game human vs human its good fun to play:)
