PES3 = cpu v cpu scripts

Playing PES3 - may as well put the controller down and watch as the CPU plays a game against itself.

I've never played a game which takes over control of the guy I'm supposed to be controlling except for PES3, which does it constantly. This game relies on a huge amount of scripting.

Yeah? What about EA's FIFA Football games- they've always been scripted- nothing is really random. In FIFA 2003, opposing defenders always get the ball, if you lob a speculative 'ball' towards the penalty box.
I was sick of that game shooting and passing on my behalf. It 'loved' to bring my goalie out, even if a tried to pull him back. The game was was just so unresponsive at times.

I hope FIFA 2004 is a marked improvement. I'm looking forward to getting both PES3 and FIFA 2004 next week. I love the FIFA arcade-like play for online tournaments etc., but I can't wait to immerse myself in the depth of play that PES3 offers...
Well, the guys on here say it's far more realistic and rewarding. I'll have to wait and see...

That's why they have super cancel (R1+R2) incase you need to override anything thats automatic, nice feature that you wont see in FIFA. I hardly have to use becuase once you learn how to play the game it just plays perfectly.

You can cancel/fake shots and passes in NHL 2004- and you could in one of the old SNES versions of FIFA. It's a good thing to use if you suddenly change your mind (or want to fool a defender or the 'keeper), which happens a lot really- and is far more realistic! That's what drove me crazy with FIFA 2003- football is very dynamic- you make/retract decisions at a moment's notice. Not in FIFA though- tough sh*t if you change your mind! Maybe it's because it's too scripted. :/

I'm looking forward to my first PES game- maybe (my copy of) FIFA 2004 will make a nice coaster! ;-)

There is a manager/coach mode. You can select it at the side selection screen. It's a little stick figure guy with a text bubble coming out like he's giving orders like a manager. Pretty cool to try a whole season that way.

Set cursor changes to manual and learn to use r1+r2 and you can never have a problem controlling your players.

I understand what you're saying but you're slightly exaggerating there ;)

You're right it's built into the game and has been there in all KCET games, but it has been reducing with each game. It happens alot more in the hardest modes and I think it's basically there to give the AI a chance, as I've noticed it happens alot less when playing against friends.
It's a game, it is one big script :) but it does manage to hide this fact alot better than most games.

I've been playing for months on end and I don't see a problem culo...think about this, if every ball and player behaved exactly like you wanted them to and passed the ball exactly to the spot, the scorelines would be 11-10 etc.

besides, you can cancel the VERY RARE scripted runs (one in ebvery game MAYBE !)

it doesn't take away from the game AT ALL !

i think that it does not hide it very well

i understand why the scripts are there but i have never played another game which takes over control as much as PES...the scripting is just so obvious

PES3 is a game which at times is beautiful and which at times is one big ****ty script

i truly hope hope PES4 is all beautiful but i suspect it will be just PES3 plus a little extra

PES will never be a geat game until the scripts are "invisible"

Can you give some examples of this game being "one big shi**y script" as you call it? I am not seeing this myself, and frankly cannot understand how you can say this with the likes of FIFA being far more blatantly guity of scripting.

Have you read the other posts? You can change the controls to manual, and press R1+R2 when your player becomes "stuck", so you can have all the control you want!

culo turn off auto switch, use super cancel when you need it, and learn how to play the game. You obviosly don't know what your talking about.

sorry man, I've been a gamer for years and I spend hours a day playing, I don't see the scripts...very very very rarely...

dude this game isnt scripted
its like vice city
you have your city, cars and guns... now do whatever you want with them
in PES3 you have your stadium, players and ball... do whatever you want with them

that's the level I've played for years man...I just don't see the "scripted" stuff you talk about, maybe we're playing different games..
