downloading it now, I hope it plays good. I've read over and over that the game-speed is 20% faster than PES6 so the demo is a representation of this speed, so it won't change in the final release. I highly doubt it since even Konami have said it's faster.

From the vids I've seen thus far I have to say it doesn't look like a PES game, more like ISS on the Xbox, quite pinball'ish, back and forth, end to end. Hell it could be very exciting! but it's sad as it seems you only need 5+ passes to get into a dangerous position.

Anyway will give the demo some good runs and give my feedback. I've played the FIFA 08 demo and it's the best football sim I've ever played. but lets see if PES08 is better.

Nick.

If the main things wrong with the new game are 'its a bit fast' and 'non-star players don't look great', then it looks like Konami are simply being lazy and relying - as in previous years - on fan editors to get the game up to scratch. The pes6 i'm playing now is totally different to the pes6 that sits in a box on my shelf. It looks great, sounds great, and plays at just the right speed.

Everything in the '+' bit of Jore2's post is stuff that I really notice is missing in pes6, so I'm glad it's there. Everything in the '-' bit can be fixed by the amazing team of editors.

Not that I'm saying this is a good thing or anything, but a demo of a pes game can never, ever be anywhere close to how the real game will play. It just gives us a chance to see what foundations the game we'll end up playing will be built on. Konami release the bare bones, other people who care more make it the game it should be, so there's no need to panic.

Much respect to anyone who edits the game, by the way !

the problem I had with PES6 is if you know how to play vs. someone that doesn't quite know but can still play. the guy who knows more and exploit you and score 3+ crappy goals! This was an unedited game though, unlike the PC version.

I went to Zante/Lagana this year and these guys had a PES6 PS2 tournament and as soon as anyone who knew that little bit more started playing, they'd pretty much do stuff you can't defend against and get in 2/3 silly looking goals. the goal itself was very realistic looking, but the way they got on the break to do it was just CHEAP and arcade looking. I went right off it. cause these players' were really good, but they seemed to be good at finding cheap ways to score quick goals.

Bah! I hope PES2008 sorts this out.

Meh, if the game turns out to be bad, then we who live in the US will have an advantage.

IMO, if the game truns out bad, Konami will have time to sort some things out in time for the game's release in the US. Who knows, maybe the US vesrion of PES2008 will be much better than the European version?

Didn't they do that with PES6 and WE 2007? They changed PES 6 a bit, and overall it was different in the US than in Europe...

The game is tooo fast - I prefer pes 6 on the 360 - I'm sprinting back and fort- no midfield - it feels like a game on my nintendo 64 - strange?

Hi Guys my first post.

remember, its only a demo, the game wont be 100% like the demo when it comes out, i think the game is terrific but i do believe their trying to make the game more like fifa now.

got the demo to work and i must say, the best part about this game is the nets.. :(

PES is really moving away from its roots

First of all last year, I played both games and went with FIFA 07 and this year I feel, EA has ruined FIFA 08 so I was really looking forward to this edition of PES. So far I like the 360 version demo much more than the FIFA 08demo but it does have problems which makes me unsure about getting it.

- The game speed is just a little too high which keeps the game at one pace and makes the midfield and the whole build up play useless.

- Because of the game speed, the Tackling system is a little clumsy

- Your team AI is prone to leaving a huge gap in the centre of defence

- I think there is one too many buttons to remember

- Now and again your team AI won't run into space quick enough but not as bad as FIFA team AI.

However the game does have good stuff like...

+ Players move pretty smoothly and the game itself does

+ Shooting system is very rewarding but not easy

+ Crossing is whipped in nice and fast

+ The balance at going past people or getting tackled seems to be pretty good

+ I love how no cutscenes sometimes with the Ref pulling out a card and how the linesman raises his flag making it lal happen in the game, keeping the flow running.

+ AI is harder.

+ Graphics like pitch and netting is good.

Biggest thing for me is, can the game speed be changed in the main game cause with the demo only 5 minutes, I felt maybe Konami put it up a little so you could find out more of the game's mechanics quicker and the option to adjust the game speed would fix most of the problems I find with it.

Played the demo more and the biggest problem like every PES game has had since PES 4 is the "TACKLING SYSTEM" is just so poor, you hardly can tackle people without giving away fouls unless you rely on walking into them so the whole pressure tackle system is redudent.

Also my team AI is AWFUL at defending, they leave there man all the time as soon as the AI takes over when I switch players. Keepers also parry too much and makes it feel like FIFA.

I am really trying to like it cause I need a footy game to play but Konami I am really starting to believe that the people you employ to make these games do not watch football or quality football.

Ok I'll say what i think.

played the demo on my 360...this is not next-gen at all. Maybe a PS2 game sure. But not next-gen.

This game can compete with current gen FIFA 08. But not next gen, it doesn't touch it.

Next gen FIFA 08 is in a league of its own. I suggest you all try it cause this is just a poor game from Konami. The animations are dreadful!! And the AI is predictable. The game is like pinball damnit and scripted so bad.

Bad effort. I prefer PES6.

Wow, if all you say is true then my "loyalty" to PES will take a BIG blow :(

I agree, FIFA 08 next-gen is in a league of its own, but if all you say is true, then it seems like PES2008 took one step forward and 2 steps back...and that is sad.

I hope to get the change to get the demo for PC and see it out for myself...it can't be that bad...

well it all been said the game is enjoyable sure. But it's just not a next-gen title at all, no way. It just oozes an old-gen engine effort and looks like it too.

I'll be surprised if the game is any different in the full release. So yeah, it's kinda fun to play, but..well here's an example;

I set the demo to top player and sh!t all over portgual playing as Brazil. But my players' couldn't hit the target, really easy shots too. Yet Portugal only manage 2 shots the whole game, 2 unrealistic efforts and yet score 2 goals.

This is like an arcade game. My 11 shots v their 2 and they beat me 2-0. Sure, it's challenging...but for the totally wrong reasons!

created a UK account and downloaded the demo, it took about 6mins, to download, its very dissapointing, i played the demo its no different from the previous version, ,the graphics are just shinny, not impressed , online will be awful anyways, Fifa 08 demo is way better , gameplay wise, the pes 08 seems very easy, running, dribbling are very easy to do, i am so pissed

hope that the game will be different from the demo...

In the past FOR PC demos were differents from the final game...but, I dont know about xbox360... Hope...

that's stupid. most of the people will buy the game because they liked the demo, or not because they didn't like it. I will, too.

Listening to the guys on

http://www.winningelevenblog.com/

during there latest podcast about PES Adam says he had played a later or final version and its miles better than the demo which he likened to the demo at the gameshow in Germany last month.

They are as biased as the worst fanboys in that blog, they always say the final versions are better but they don't bring any proof about that. They just want to get some free copies of the game and being invited to the conventions. I would not believe anything they say honestly
