PES2 vs. Fifa2003

Fifa will never have the tactical depht and variation like PES, cuse of much poorer AI.

Tactics is one of the most important parts of the game.
Wihtout creating a balanced and fun system this game is completely ****.

Some poeple migth enjoy those open no defence games but not me. Try this formation-

------------Samuel
-------Ayala------Potchetino
Zanetti---------------------Gonzales
--------Simeone--Almayda
-------Veron(oh)-----Aimar(fw)
--------------Crespo

defencive bias-Simeone-Almayda (
attacking bias-(zanetti and Gonzales depending if opponents play 3 man defence or not) Veron, Crespo.

This game is brilliant!

The real rasons why people don't like ISS/PES/WE:

1. People normally judge on their first impression after 1 hour or so, but PES is a game with longedivity, a game that takes time to understand the brilliance of it. This is want happens to most people. you should judge after weeks of play, judge when you star to master the game.

2. Its not the sort of game that a casual fan can just pick up and play and enjoy for little while until they get bored and start making patches, kits, faces i.e Fifa. Its for people who love football with a passion, people who are willing to to use tactics, formations to a real depth, and love the football side rather than pictures.

3. No player names, limited competitions, poor commentary, poor kits. stuff that has nothing to do with the gameplay on the pitch basically. This is the reason why some people don't even pick up the game.

I think FIFA2003 deserves allot of credit because it has improved, but it still can't touch ISS/PES/WE. FIFA need to do allot to catch up. FIFA is the best footie game on the PC, but on the ps2 its like fifa does not exists, it seems to be all about PES/WE.

If only you fifa fans could understand what ISS/PES/WE does to you, if only.....

See, now this is the kind of crap that annoys people. Personally I love PES, I mean absolutely love it. To suggest though that if people don't like the game that they are in some way unenlightened, simply not having the perception or the understanding of football to see the gem before them is small-minded sh*t. Why can't you guys just accept that some people just don't like it, and could play the game for a year and still would not. You're like a bunch of sidewalk preachers. To say that PES is for people who "love the football side rather than pictures" implies that Fifa is just for people who love pictures? What a load of sh*t! I know people who live for football and who also enjoy playing FIFA games over PES. Absolute realism is not the be all and end all of a game being fun. This is the object of the game, you understand, fun. Playing a game is never, and I mean NEVER going to have the same wonderfull feeling as scoring a goal or going on a run in a real game, so the object at the end of the day is not to replace real life. Given that, a games purpose is to provide entertainment. Not everyone craves the same kind of entertainment though. I may have a preference for Arnold Swartzanegger ( yes I know that's spelt wrong ) movies, but this is not because I do not understand more complex films. It's simply a matter of personal taste. Perhaps then you should try to adopt a less arogant manner in a forum which at the end of the day is a FIFA forum. For people who profess to adore PES while at the same time showing disdain towards the FIFA games, you guys seem to spent a hell of a lot of time here.

Agree with you.
I have play WE for six month and i can play 6 hour nonstop with my friends. But since i play Fifa 2003 demo, i just once touch WE again and i found that i like Fifa 2003 more. It's not about Fifa better than WE or something like that. I have more than enough experience with WE and i like WE. But i think i like Fifa 2003 more. This not about Fifa has better graphics or Fifa has the license since i never play with my favourite Juventus in Fifa 2003. But just about i feel more enjoyable playing Fifa 2003.

Yeah, I mean like I said before and Jules in the other topic, that some people MIGHT not actually prefer PES, but for some reason these fans just CAN'T get it into their heads that someone might just prefer FIFA overall. I for example prefer my FIFA game, but I am biased, as I don't own PES, but have played it a lot and the PES2 demo about 6-7 times. So yep, I am biased. :crazyboy:

I'd have to play (or own, but can't, no PS2 and ain't gonna buy one just for 1 game!) both games and see, but I have played PES a lot and still prefer FIFA 2003, but not FIFA's, lol. :crazyboy: cause FIFA 2003 & WC 2002 are pretty damn bad.

If you noticed I gave three possible reasons why people might not like PES/ISS/WE. If you read the first and the third reasons I didn't imply that people who don't like PES are not die hard footie fans or don't understand football, or people who like fifa prefer pictures rather than football.

I am not saying that EVERYONE falls into one of these catergorys, just that these three reasons are the most popular, escpecially the third one. I only say this because of my own experince, and if you ask most ISS/PES/WE fans they will say the same, that when I first started playing these games, I thought it was crap. The fact of no player names, poor kits, commentary stuff like that totally put me off the game. Only by peer pressure did I actually stuck with it, and it took me time to understand the brilliance of the game.

I know people have other reasons. PES/ISS/WE fans don't come in this forum because they hate fifa, they come in here because they want to spread the word on a game that is not as popular as fifa, some people have never heard of these games. You will be amazed at the amount of people that have been converted from this fifa forum to PES/ISS/WE.

I have no problem with fifa or their fans, or course they know about football. I was just contributing to this post.

When you think about it wasn't it fifa that started all this crap??
claiming that FIFA2003 is a better game than PES, that is a clever marketing ploy, but not everyone is gonna fall for it (not me because I just download fifa games).

So PES/ISS/WE fans are just responding.

Umm...I think that you have misunderstood what he is saying. The point that he was making with the whole Juve thing is that he likes FIFA 2003, and not just for the graphics or licensed teams as he has not played with Juventus, his fave team, on FIFA2003, but simply feels it to be more enjoyable. He didn't even mention which teams WE did or didn't have.

I mean i never play with Juventus in Fifa 2003, so the license in Fifa 2003 is not useful yet.

I've play juventus in WE6. They have poor jersey and they are soo weak compare to another big team.

All the players in front of Almeyda are pushed up. It's amazing what u can do with this guys. And defending is not a problem is u know how to use the offside trap(Samuel is very good at commanding the defensive line)

just lurking i am actually on the side of kop kid here... i too found the original post to be of the typical patronizing manner that is so common with PES folks. the thread of arguments is always the same: play FIFA = play only for an hour = don't know shi_t about football = miss something essential in life.

you guys all sound like you've just met jesus ("if only you knew, what he does to you")

you know.. sometimes maybe i WANT TO play only for an hour rather than wasting a week of my time replacing "Eddington" with "Roberto Laclos" or "Baroja" with "Radolno". i want to play as Real in fcuking Bernabeu and not (of all places) Nou Camp. i want Ronaldo and Zidane to pull nice little tricks (as they do quite frequently in real life) other than the lame PES choice between shimmy and flic-flac. i want Real to trash Alaves 5-0 as they did the other day without wondering why real life losers like Shearer, Anelka or Simone play godlike footy on level 5 in PES when in reality they so suck. i want a referee on the pitch. and linesmen. a referee, i might add, who doesn't yellow card every fcuking foul. i want authentic banners. not that "bellissimo calcio" crap. i don't want to bother tactics and set ups and "building up my game", because i have fcuking Zidane, Carlos, Raul, Solari, Figo and Ronaldo doing it for me. i want Ronaldo to celebrate his goals with his trademark index finger and not by doing childish flip-flops. i don't want Ronaldo to score headers (which he does all the time in PES), because he doesn't do that in real life. i want to be able to manually rewatch close situations rather than the computer picking scenes which it deems worthy (and which are usually not). i want to immerse in the visuals and relax and enjoy my Alaves trashing rather than fighting yet another endless 10 minutes just to keep my 1-0 against a loser team like leeds united (sorry to all leeds fans.. could have been any) just to collect dorky points to buy a Raul who in the end is not worth the money, playing next against Dortmund in Munich stadium, in which a player named "Kollar" plays like he was the best forward of all times besids shooting one free-kick after another (juuuuust like in reality)...

am i shallow? yep. maybe... but we all are sometimes (most of the times)... but maybe the rest of the time i have better things to do than to think how best to set up my game with "Ravoldi" on the left... read a book.. watch the new Almodovar movie.. hang out with my girlfriend... for example..

does that mean i know sh_it about football? no. does that mean i dislike PES? no. does that mean i need to constantly try to convert people and tell them what's good for them and what not? no.

if you really want things to change, then why don't all you guys not talk to your beloved Konami folks. tell them to not be so stingy and get a full licence (they sold a million plus of WE6 alone, so the whole "underdog" BS is lamer than lame). tell them to release a PC version and get a PS2 version on the US market. just needs a little conversion and a little marketing (for which they are too stingy again).

anyhow, then people will find out and compare by themselves. no preachers needed.

amen.

I think maybe the PES boys are getting a little worried about Fifa this year. Basically all Fifa needs is a little tweaking of the AI to stop some of the silly things, other than that it is a great game. They have made leaps and bounds.

This is the best Fifa so far, and the most accurate graphical representation, for those that like to get immeresed in the game, and it is FUN to play.

If you want to play "real" football. Play in a weekend league, or get off your arse and kick the football around the park with your mates.
