PES camera's

As a PES newb (I don't own a ps2) I have a question about camera's.

I used to be an avid FIFA player, but now PES has come on pc I don't think I will look back anymore :) I used to like the camera's in FIFA WC2002 though. The only way I played it was on panoramic cam, with full height and completely zoomed out. That way you could see the most of the pitch and you really got a good overview for a good positional play.

When I play the PES demo with the cam on wide, I don't see enough of the pitch. I usually can pass it to 2-3 players near me, but I have no idea where the others are positioned. It bugs me, because I don't like to just blindly execute the long pass in the hope it will reach a teammate.

Also, the radar is no solution for me. It's too distracting from the actual play.

Do you think the full game comes equipped with more advanced camera tools? What was it like in PES2? Or better, in PES3 for the PS2?

do you really need to see the whole pitch when you are playing??!! or do you make long passes ONLY ?? but try to play in vertical camera IMO its enough :rockman:

btw .. i think the radar on the buttom of the screen is very helpful... when i want to pass it long to the forward players it is enough for me when i see them as little points on the radar so i know their position and also if they are offside/onside ..
i NEVER used radar in the fifa series because i dont need them :kader: also not in fifa2k4 i think
but here in pes i cant do without it ;)

I don't need to see the whole pitch (it's also not possible in any fifa game), but I do need to see enough of it. I could in fifa wc2002, but not in the pes3 demo. Maybe I need to give the radar another chance, but I would be much happier if I could adjust the cam to my liking.

Any ps2'ers who bought pes3 that can enlighten me? Or maybe an opinion on whether a cam-patch for pes3 is within the realm of possibilities??

I will try the vertical cam suggestion though, sagol! ;)

I find it hard to play in vertical cam. It OK when you are moving from the bottom to the top of the screen but I find it difficult in the oppositie direction.

the radar is so helpful, once you come to grips with it it becomes your friend.

Yea, unlike FIFA's off the ball(cheap way for successful longballs), you have to use the radar to your advantage. :mrpimp:

I agree , need a camera that shows more of the pitch from higher up and further back. And no it's not so I can just lob high balls up the park, I want to see runs I was to see the moves build up. And radar? come on that does not do it for you, where in a real game of foootball do you get radar? No the camera need to be able zoom out more ( Wide camera , but higher and out much further ).

Some points about the demo , I d/ld new nvidia drivers and with both A/A fuctions turn off the speed looks like what I think Konami built it to be, if it is now running at normal speed its a tad to fast. And although the player speed looks normal ( be it a tad to fast ) there legs are still going much faster than they are running. Anyone that's ever seen the Benny Hill Show at the end will know what I mean, a normal run that the camera has speeded up, silly looking. This is a great game 9.9/10 game speed needs to be a bit lower for me , then its 10/10. I just love this game THANK you KONAMI for bring it to the PC and I look forward to PES4 next year ... just the best!

Ps one thing I noticed in the demo, I crossed the ball into the box and a defender all alone on the penalty spot facing his goal hit a soft half side foot'd volley right at his keeper and the keeper caught it.. Free Kick Ref? Nothing? looks like the keeper can pick up pass backs.. I take it , it must be to hard to write code for that?

I believe that it's only interpreted as a backpass if the ball was actually passed back to the keeper, whereas the game ignores it if you have a terrible first touch that bounces off to the keeper.

A wider camera would be nice, especially for fixed player mode. What would be even nicer on one-player fixed-player, would be a player cam, or a player's-eye-view. I'm getting used to using the radar now though. Once it becomes instinctive, you need only the slightest glance and you can take in useful info from it.

Yeah, a wider cam might be a good thing, but then dribbling in tight spots would be harder to judge from further away...should still be an option though.

I usually have the radar up the top of the screen so I can glance at it as if it were a rear vision mirror in a car, after a while it becomes second nature. If you're playing on PC, the screen settings are disabled in the demo so you'll have to wait 2 weeks for release to try it out or until someone unlocks the menus.
