Pes 6 PC weird display glitch/flickering

Whenever I am playing PES on my PC it every once in a while (randomly) has a glitch, like a weird flickering of the screen, shaped as a bar, going from the up of the screen to the bottom... this happens randomly, the game runs smoothly and it doesn't only happen if the game's really busy or anything, it is totally random...

After playing pes 5 on my pc before, this also happened and after a month my €400 ATI graphics card was broke... I've got a different pc now, new motherboard/processor and video card (also ATI) and it still happens...
I don't know if it has anything to do with this specific problem, but because it still happens on different hardware I'm starting to get worried...

My system specs are p4 2.8/ ati 9600 XT 256, 1,5 gig's of RAM

Does anybody has any idea about what is causing this specific glitch/flicker and if its causing damage to your video card? Thanks in advance!

edit: After a second look it even happens in the menu, for example the description text flickers every once in a while (so not specifically a bar shape)

There must be an option v-sync or vertical something( i can't remember at the moment). Just turn that always on or on...Hope this helps. Good luck.

yep v sync sorts this out mate, pes obviously doesnt have the best gfx ever so u get high frames on it, this causes screen tearing which v sync fixes, if possible id also enable triple buffering while using v sync just for some extra performance, but hey its PES so i wouldnt worry to much, v sync is just fine :ewan:

It happens to me on my x1900xtx passed 1940x1440 res. There is glitching going on in the middle of the screen. But the problem is at 1600x1200 res refresh rate is not comfortable. It bothers my eyes. It was set to 85mhz. I ll try the vsync and find out.

Right click on desktop > choose properties > click on setting tab > choose advanced > (dependent on graphics card options here differ) but here change V-Sync to on and enable triple buffer. Also try a screen refresh of 60 hz.

Hope this helps.

Kindest regards,

Hi guys.

Sorry to resurect this thread but thought it would save me starting a new one on the same subject :)
I am suffering the tearing issue in PES6 but have not beenable to fix it by enabling vertical sync for Direct3D via Ati Tray Tools.
It there anything else I can try to fix it?

Thanks, Mat.

Notes:
This is with an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro running at 1440x900@60Hz on a Samsung 19" W/S Monitor.I am using the latest Catalyst drivers (7.1) under Windows XP. As I mentioned before I am using Ati Tray Tools to control my video card.

Did you try forcing Vertical Sync? It has no affect on PES for me :(

Any idea how to enable VSync on an nVidia card? Thanks.

Double click the nvidia icon in your taskbar, or right click the desktop and find the advanced tab. The setting should be in there somewhere under Direct3D I think. (I don't have an nVidia card).

As for my problem I've fixed it simply by re-enabling V-Sync a few times. However sometimes PES runs a bit slow so I am guessing this is because my video card is not supplying the 60fps required for V-Sync.
