Ive been enjoying a good spanish season as Valencia. 18 games in i was 4th, 9 points of league leaders barca and on a good run of 3 wins in a row...that was until i came up against Real Madrid. What followed was a harsh lesson that reminded me that pro evo simply cannot be completely conquered. It finished 6-0 to los galacticos, yes 6! I had not played in a game yet with 6 goals between 2 clubs let alone for one. I started off decently and held real reasonably competently for 14 minutes until my keeper canizares made a complete howler trying to clear a backpass gifting the ball to ronaldo who tapped in from close range. Real then took complete control, but it was not 2-0 until the 31st minute. Again it was a gift wrapped present after i overplayed in my owen area following a corner. The ball fell to the feet of Guti who took on one, shimmied past another and unleashed a well placed shot that clipped the post before nestling in my goal as Canizares stood on hopelessly. On 43 it was game over as R Carlos threaded a ball through to Raul who's low clinical shot killed the game. Real were not finished though as Beckhams corner found Ronaldo who headed in his 2nd and their 4th in injury time. Surely things could not get any worse, yes a whole lot worse.
My team completely lost their heads in the 2nd half. Firstly my skipper Albelda received his marching orders for a 2nd bookable offence. An unfair dismissal, i thought he got a bit of the ball. The Marchena was sent off for a straight red after a cynical foul on beckham who was in on goal. 9 men, 4-0 down against real madrid...great. I managed to hold on until the 83rd minute when a lucky Guti goal made it 5-0. Once again i failed to clear a Beckham corner and when it fell to Guti his left foot shot flicked the chest of Ayala before flying past Canizares. There was still time for a 6th and a 2nd for Raul as R Carlos played a long abll to sub Owen whos headed lay off found Raul. His first touch took him away from the demoralised Ayala before he slid a low right foot shot under the body of my unfortunate keeper.
What a huge defeat. I have learnt a lesson here, do not go and try to beat Real Madrid on Pro Evo 4... simply hold them, be patient and try to get a draw. Anything more is a bonus.
