But how does it work... how come we have no seeds?
I use torrent to download, but I only know that the speed is better as you have more seeds and peers...

We have 1 seed (the one, who put the torrent of the demo on tracker), he has 100% of the game, we are just leecher's until someone else get's 100%, then he becomes seeder.

Folks, the problem right now is that there aren't many seeders, maybe only one. In addition to that, not everyone can see these seeder(s). The people who can see the seeder are getting the new chunks from him/them, as fast as the seeder's upload speed will allow. Those, in turn, are getting spread out to the rest of us, which is why we are all creeping toward 100% at the same rate.

So who's really going to benefit from this? All the people at work or asleep right now, who come home/wake up and see the demo is available, and their download will fly. By then we will have all gotten 100% of it, which means hundreds, maybe thousands of seeds.

For the time being, we'll all continue to creep toward 100% together.

dont understand all this torrent lark,i have broad band and just dloaded bttorrent and started d/loadin the demo but it is v.slow,what gives?

I use bittornado as client and it gives this info:
100 peers with an average of 49.6% completed
Connected to 0 seeds, also seeing 0.621 distributed copies

Is this interesting info? :)

Well obviously you dont becuase even tho the seeder is the only one with the full file he can only share to so many people byt eventually all the data is shared in chunks even tho no on has 100% of it, it's a trickle down effect.

I said that dude,,,as long as a few people are connected to the seeder the files will get spread around

What is a "seed" and does having one make the d/ld faster?


Im using BitComet and I see about 50 people connected as Leech Only .. most are on or about the 60% mark a couple are on 62.4%

Im 58.8%


New to Bit just got it to get the demo , so can anyone tell me what a seed does and how to do it, I'll do it if it gets the d/l to move faster?
