PES 2009 news + trailer

In an attempt to breathe life back into this forum, I thought I'd post some news on the latest iteration of the Pro Evolution Soccer series. It's been confirmed that PES 2009 will have the Champions League license (see screenshots & trailer below).

The speed seems to be slightly slower than in PES 2008, which is a good thing in my opinion but disappointingly, the graphics don't seem to be vastly different from last year's.

I'm still undecided on which out of FIFA and PES to get this year but if Konami sort out the online side of things, that may sway me back to PES after a year without any football game.

I only play Pro Evo for the Master League nowadays, and i'm pretty sure i've read that the CL will not be integrated into the ML, rendering its inclusion for me pretty much redundant.

Pff.

If that's true, it'd be a shame but I don't see why they can't/won't include it in ML?

Also forgot to mention it's still unclear if Chelsea and Arsenal will be licensed even though Konami have the CL license (only Man U and Liverpool have been confirmed so far).

Thought it'd had said that all CL teams will be licensed? Maybe not.

Can't remember where i read that about the CL/ML, but i'm sure i've not made it up.

there was about 5 seconds of actual game footage in that trailer, and yet again the running animation is the same for all players, 3 years in next gen mode and konami are still churning out PES from it's PS2 engine

ML sucks. What Konami should do is integrate the Champions League into Season mode so people can play realistic league and realistic national cup and qualify for the champions league and UEFA cup the next season.

But i'm afraid Konami will make the Champions League just a new option in the Cup mode and if that is the case the new license is not really a reason to buy the game.

yea, but sometimes i'd rather just play a champions league rather than season and champions league and with no simulation option this would help someone like myself... i guess to make all parties happy they should give the player the option.

Yeah, if they want everybody happy they need to insert the Champions League in ML, Season mode and Cup mode. I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon also because of the limitations of this aging PES.
