Those system requirements seem extremely low as the hardware listed is old technology and alot of it isn't even in production anymore.

Core 2 Duo ('Centrino' for laptop) clocked at 1.8Ghz will probably destroy or at the very least match a Pentium 4 processor clocked at 2.8-3Ghz in performance, the graphics card may be mid-range but it's still ok for todays games depending on settings, and your processor will probably be doing most of the hard work anyway. You'll be fine.

It's also true that Konami has improved their coding for PES on PC over the years.
Remember the first version of their games for PES, it was ISS PRO 3... then PES 3, and both were almost unplayable for everybody.
Then with PES 4, people with great computers were able to play it, and people (like me) had to tweak their systems to the max, and spend hours trying new settings (video card, directx, etc) to make it run at least on 20fps. Admit it, most of us had to run it through 3DAnalyzer.
Then, PES 5 was pretty good. Some ppl were still using 3D Analyzer, although a big part could now run it without problems.
And with PES 6... I think nobody had no problems or whatsoever.

So, from ISS PRO, to PES 4 and maybe 5, a lot of people were experiencing MAYOR slow downs. Sometimes the whole game was unplayable, till you got enough PES-POINTS to buy the DOUBLE SPEED option, and then the game was 'playable' although you REALLY had to love the game to play it like that.
Some of us had to combine 3DAnalyzer, with RivaTuner settings, with DOUBLE SPEED option, and still were playing it really bad.
It also depended on how many players were involved in the screen. For example, as you got near the box, more and more players were seen (defenders, midfielders, and attackers), so out of the 22 players in the field, perhaps there were 11 players all stuck up in the part the camera was showing you, and that slowed down the game A LOT.

But with PES6, is a whole different thing. I have a Pentium III, 1GHz, 512ram, GeForce FX 5200, with Windows XP SP2... so you see my computer is getting old, poor little thing. And even so, I can play PES 6 really great and smooth at 800x600 and 1024x768, with Medium details level.

See for yourself....

As much as I know the graphics ain't getting much better in this year's game version, so the PC requirements won't get WAY MUCH HIGHER. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the mayor graphics improvements are for the consoles, right?

So....

Sorry, but I have to disappoint you.
This years PC-version of Pes2008 uses the same engine as the consoles,
therefore it needs a much better PC to play it at max. details.
I even read in a german article about the Games Convention that it is a bit superior to the x360/PS3 version, because you can use Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filter
which isn't there on the consoles... (has been seen live!)

Hasn't improved by much when you can still use a Geforce 3 or 4 has it? ;)

Hello guys! I like you, am a very big fan of PES, and when I heard it was going to be next-gen for PC I jumped for joy!

Anyway, I have seen those RECOMMENDED requirements, but my PC doesn’t really come close. I don’t have any PES for PC, but according to you guys Konami’s minimum requirements are much lower then the recommended requirements. Because of this, do you guys think my PC will be able to run PES 2008 somewhat smoothly?

My PC:
Intel Celeron 2.4 GHz
384 MB RAM
Free Space: That’s not a problem
ATI Radeon 9250 Graphics card.

So, can my PC run it? Is my graphics card compatible? And also what’s 256 MB Pixel Shader 3.0? Can I run the game even if my graphics card doesn’t have that?

Please answer my questions because I REALLY would like this game!

Btw, my PC is 4 years old.

Thanks you very much!!

You could try it on the lowest settings but you still might experience slowdown. I think it's time you upgrade, because the graphics engine is the
next-gen one used for consoles. Konami's recommended specs aren't even really that high for a computer of today's standard, well not mine at least. ~$1000 could get you a computer that has even better specs than what Konami recommend if you spend your money wisely.

I hardly doubt that u will even be able to start the game.
Your card uses PixelShader 1.4, not even 2 as the x800 does.
For PixelShader 3 you need at least a ATI Radeon x1600 or a Nvidia Geforce 6600.(:/)

Alright, I was expecting those kinds of answers. The truth is I know my computer is old, and I am planning to buy a new one this summer for around $1000-$1500 dollars. I want to get all the latest components.

My problem with PC games is that the next-gen ones take more out of a PC then they do out of consoles, and beacuse of that, you must upgrade your PC once every 2 years...something that I do not want to do...

So it's either a new PC or a cheaper next-gen console. The sad part about playing a game with a console is that you can't edit its database like for FIFA or PES.... :(

But, would I be at least able to run the game with my current pc?

And also, if my graphics card doesn't support that Pixel Shader, how come it still is one of the supported chipsets in the system requirements???

P.S. Although my PC seems crappy, I was able to run Call of Duty 2 on it perfectly! I know it's an old game today, but still!

Remember a ps 3.0 graphics card is the recommended spec for it to look and play at it's best, as your card is supported you shouldn't have any problem running it.

I'm guessing you will be able to set and run pes2008 graphically and performance wise similarly to pes 6.

What settings and resolution do you have pes 6 at ?

Regarding the pc and next-gen console debate, I would still go for a new pc.

If you can wait to next summer/autumn to upgrade then it would be worth waiting till then.

I don't know about PES6, because I have it for PS2 not PC. And PES6 is the only PES game that I have. So, I can't tell you what resolution I play at. However, I have Fifa WC06 and 07 on PC...

So you're saying I should wait for next autumn to buy a new PC? Why? Is that the best time to buy? Btw, I'm thinking of getting a Dell...

You could download the pes 6 pc demo and see how your pc handles it, and i'm guessing you will be able to scale pes '08 similarly to pes 6.

As for upgrading your pc, I always think when it's time you want to upgrade it's better to wait a year if you can because there will be a new generation of cpu's and graphics card by then.
