Penalty kick competitions

OH MY GOD!!! I just played two online games which I dominated!! The first one ended 0-0 at half time. As I said, I dominated the game, so I wasn't very worried, I knew I'd score in the second half as I'd had plenty of amazingly big chances in the first half.

Well, the second half didn't go much better. This was just one of those matches where I'd completely owned the game, had all the play etc, but just couldn't put my chances in goal (I'm talking about Shevchenko missing on an open goal, Lehmann up in the post saving a rocket from Gattuso).

I knew before extra time begun that this would go to a penalty kick competition (which I hate). And it did. And just as I suspected, some of my players had to miss the goal and shoot the ball outside or hit the post (three players missed, all of them outside of goal or post). And he won.

Seeing as the first match was as a client, I had a rematch, which I would surely win, since this time, I was the host. Well, to make a long story short, exactly the same thing happened again. EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!! 120 minutes of domination, penalty kick competition which I lost, with this time only two players missing.

Damn, Konami, can't you try making a deeper penalty kick mode? It feels so coincidencal now, like a script saying: "He will miss/score" before the shooter hits the ball. :f***:

Sorry. Just had to get this off my mind.

How deeper can penalty kicking get???

The damn things pressure sensitive for pete's sake!!!

It's your fault for missing your chances. Just like in the real thing. Ask AC Milan when they lost to Boca.

It could be like the free kick system for instance, with a power bar where you can choose to blast the ball or just place the ball.
Also, a player such as Pirlo ,who is usually the safest penalty shooter in the world, should not blast the ball outside goal for two matches in a row! :kader:

Penalty kicks are lottery

On purpose i want to miss a penalty and hold very much up and powerbar to max and then nothing player shoot perfekt blast in the midlle.

Other times when a really want a goal just pres lightly right or left and tap shoot button and player shoot aside the posts

So...

Well, maybe you just know more about penalty kicks in PES4 than me ;)

I didn't know about the pressure sensitivity, tapping etc. but now I've learned some new tricks!

The games were just so bloody irritating, just had to get it of my shoulder.

With the right amount of pressure you can get the ball in the upper right/left corner. Most keepers won't stop it even if they guess correctly.

what you talking about pressure. Im getting sick of all these people who try to defend this game and making up things.
I got a logitec dual action gamepad, without analogue buttons. So theres no pressure issue. Sometime when i just tap the button it flies over the goal or past the post. It seems just cpu controlled when you miss a penalty.

I'm not defending anything. When I tap the button lightly I get a slower shot. If I hit it hard it goes flying. I'm just telling you how it works for me. I barely ever miss penalties. The only way I miss is if the GK guessed correclty.

yep once in PES3 i remember playing a game and going into PKs and after they were over i didn't save and played the game over and i went into PKs again... the opponenent shot in the same direction as in the first shoot-out... and the keeper went in the same direction to try to defend..

so in irl noone from a topclub misses a penalty in a shootout ? give me a break. if they would make it freekick like a good penalty will never be stopped, and that's not the way it has to be.
In real life penalty shoot out = lottery .

i applaud the guy who held out under pressure for a whole game,. thats another good tactic, just defend and hope to get the goal on the break. has to be admired

For two whole games actually. Yeah, if you know how to defend this way it's a great tactic, but I had tons of chances but none of them would go in. Shevchenko shooting over from 5 metres, missing open goals etc.

And now I know there will soon be some wiseguy saying that "I suck and have to practise more to put my chances".

There's a part of me that wishes we could nick the 30 yard shoot-outs from the MLS. That favours the attacker more, mind.

In penalties it's all about luck. Very entertaining from a neutral stand but heartbreaking for everyone else.

Tips for them? Straight down the middle has the best success rate.
