I don't like it, much less in football. It's great that people love their country, and it's great that you support them in international competitions, but for God's sakes, there should be a limit. Take BBC sports for example. OK news site, centers on the Premiership mostly, which is ok, it's my favorite league, and the site is british, so it makes sense. They had updates about the U-21 competition, which makes sense, it's the only competition going on right now. England get knocked out, front page news. Holland wins, I didn't even find out until I scanned the site more thoroughly. Instead, I get 5 reports about Man City and Sven, 3 on Henry and his impending move, and some about unknown player's injuries.

This doesn't really bother me that much. What bothers me more is Spanish football commentary. Take the Real Madrid vs. Peace Team match, which I doubt more than a handful have even heard about. I didn't even know who was playing for the non-Galacticos, and why this match was being played, anyway. I found out that a Sevilla player was injured, though. And some more about many spanish clubs, and Real Madrid. Halftime, interviewer talks to Casillas, not about the match, not about why they came all the way to Israel to play it. Oh no, they asked them about the La Liga win and celebrations. Is there no other time to discuss that?

During the World Cup, I swear, it was even worse. Every match, including the ones not involving Spain, had discussions about La Liga and how Spain would do against the two teams playing. This when there weren't any players from the LFP there, if there were, holy bejesus, they'd follow him with a magnifying glass. Champions League? Same crap happens.

I will say though that Canal+'s transmission tend to be fairly clean from this, which is why I only watch matches on it. Really, I just can't stand this crap. I would mind it less if I didn't have to endure it everywhere, there. My friends have week-long arguments about La Liga, why it's better than other leagues, and how Spanish teams get knocked out of CL due to factors which are not related to their skill (except for Barca being knocked out by Liverpool, that was ok because Liverpool are a Spanish side in disguise, apparently.)

Of course, calling people on their biased **** doesn't help, this is a normal conversation:

Idiot: Valencia are the best team in the world.
Me: No, they're not.
Idiot: Shut up, what do you know?
Me: I know they're not the best in the world.
Idiot: And who's better? Real Tel-Aviv? Israel don't have any good teams.
Me: I know, Valencia still isn't the best, though.
Idiot: -turns to talk to someone else- They'd win the CL if it weren't for all the injuries.

I swear, this happened word for word (translated from spanish).

To sum up, I hate my friends.

You just have to ignore this stuff. Football is followed by a lot of people, and a lot of people are stupid.

I agree with you, it's very common to hear biased and annoying opinions when you watch international channels like Televisa (mexican) or Fox Sports Latinamerica (based in Argentina).

Like when Fox Sports LA made a huge coverage of Copa America Peru 2004 ... the network sent to all its Argentine journalists to cover the cup, all the programs were dedicated to the cup and the only subject of conversation was the "brilliant" participation of Argentina's NT.

That went on until in the final they lost against Brazil's B-Team.

Then they said that the Copa América was a tournament without importance and of mediocre quality (well, actually that's true xD).

Yeah that's true, many people talk good about their teams when they're winning (even when they play poorly) but when they lose or didn't qualify to something, they just say...."Oh no it was because of...(some crappy excuse)...and if you don't think the same...(lot of %$·%$·%)" And I don't why is that :nape:

Hey now you know what is like to watch football in Univision here in the States when everybod y and their mom is Mexican, nothing against Mexicans but its so annoying to watch the games cause all they talk about is the Mexican team like they where God's and screw everybody else.....real partial, and real annoying

german tv is really bad as well. günther netzer and beckenbauer the worst examples. i mean, it's the CL final. bayern got knocked out in the quarter finals but they were still talkin' about bayern munich and not about liverpool and ac milan. it's really annoying.

patriotism is the best thing in football (mind you, in NT football, because i just want Porto's rivals to crash and burn)

Patriotism... well... I consider myself to be a patriot, but not in football terms.... I want to see Sao Paulo and Palmeiras out as soon as possible in continental competitions, and [Keegan] I'd love it [/Keegan] if Brazil missed out on a World Cup.

Yes, I've explained it a lot of times before, but to make the story shorter, I just hate people who only care about their country when there's a World Cup... being represented by people whose dream was to get away from here asap.

At least your commentators aren't rejects from other sports, who call the left back a "left-footed kicker".*

*Okay, that's not always the case, but still, it's annoying.

I hate Fox Sports LA and i'm from Argentina myself, but even when it comes to clubs from Argentina they are biased too, on the summer they used to talk about "River Plate's speed" in a match that didn't include River, or for example how much they go biased with Boca when they win anything but when any other thing wins anything, even an argentina side, they are just like "good job, congrats". I think Fox Sports should fire 3/4 of the staff and hire people from different countries, it's supposed to be latin american based not Argentina/Boca.

Its even worse in India with the cricket commentary...i just cant stand those irritating idiots/pundits/analysts who turn up in a studio, who have never played more than 10 test matches and/or 50 one day internationals and say : " Tendulkar has got to improve his technique...he is too defensive and i think his time has come to retire " and dont concentrate on the match going on ....i mean cmon, go and **** yourself in the mirror
