anyone scored any own goals yet on PES?

I had one a few days ago where the CPU team took a long range shot from about 25 yards. The goalie parried the ball, pushing it up in the air above his head. I had basically turned away, fully expecting him to catch the ball as it came back down.

But suddenly, one of my central defenders rushed back into the 6 yard box and as the ball descended, he leapt like a salmon and thundered a beautifully placed header into the top corner. The keeper had no chance.

I was stunned and at first, I thought it must have been my mistake and it must have been an AI attacker who had run in and scored, but the replay shows my guy (not the guy I was controlling) doing the dirty deed and not a AI attacker within 10 yards.

Another time, the AI team were attacking and had moved into the right edge of my 18 yard box. I was controlling a central defender in the middle of the box, waiting to defend the anticipated pass across the box. Suddenly a penalty was awarded....the replay showed one of my defenders push over the AI guy on the ball...I had not been pressing square to force a press, so he had just decided by himself to commit the foul. What a stupid b*stard.

Hehe. I've scored own goals..however not like how you've explained. The own goals that i've scored are mainly clearances that have deflected off the keeper or something or if a defender is running to save a ball from going across the line and I forget to hit shoot to clear...he just runs the ball into the net.

I've also had my defenders make great saves in a game. Two examples, playing WE5 for the first time, Brazil vs. Holland (me) a shot comes in, hits off a few defenders, lands to Romario who is just inside the 18, see's my keeper was on the 6 (from the previous shot and the scramble to get the ball) so he does a nice chip, not too high, over my keepers shoulder, in the mean time, i some how got hold of his defender who was running back to goal (facing goal). I pressed the shoot button just as the ball was a yard from the goal line (in my mind it was a goal for sure) but the defender does a tremendous diving header to head the ball away from net...that is when i knew I had a different game (than fifa) on my hands.

I've had two saves like the one I will describe now. One of them was a goalmouth save..my keeper is beat on a 1 v 1...some defenders retreat to the goal line, the ball is trickling into the net, my defender does a sliding kick to clear the ball from the goal line...same thing, my defender saved a corner kick using the same kick..pretty fascinating.

Oh yeah, back to the own goal discussion. I was playing as Japan vs Brazil, I have a corner kick, the Brazilian defenders are terrible in the air so one of the attackers gets a header..but hits it straight to the keeper. Because of the proximity of the header all the keeper can react to do is punch the ball up and go to ground. Then Aldair (in his all towering wisdom) gets the ball first to head it out for a corner or something, but heads it into the net. After laughing for the next 2 mins, I resumed the game to get my shutout. Hey, as a manager, I'll take the win however it comes.

It has happened to me once, the keeper pushed a shot up into the air, he jumps to catch the decending ball and the central defender decides to kamikazi him and as he runs back and biffs the keeper back over the goalline. oh bollocks now i am 2-1 down with 90 seconds to go .. and one other thing that to me makes the defending more of a wildcard is when you move the keeper out to cut off\narrow the shooting angle, the keeper in my case usually either parries the shot\ball away or a dive at the ball with the mitts outstreched and then the ball will richochet anywhere around the area that usually causes chaos as the defenders try to pick up the loose ball, but usually the attackers will gain the advantage and hit the ball into the unguarded net .. drat now isn't that a pain .. but if its in the game its very likely to be in this one, the AI sends a ball across field it drops short of the far receiving player, but not a problem as the player somehow times the rising ball and clips it at shin height back on a forward diagonal lob\chip onto the far side of the area, the ball is won once again by the attacker, who heads the ball onto the striker who is in a very menacing mood on the far corner of the six yards box, his header is sent goalbound to the far post, oh shyte, i am doomed, but no, somehow or other a slider clearence on the goaline saves the day, now how good is that for realism, man this game blows me away every time that i play it .. Ned :D

Hehehe.., it is a joy to read the posts in this topic, from you guys :D
After reading this part of the_man's post ....
). I pressed the shoot button just as the ball was a yard from the goal line (in my mind it was a goal for sure) but the defender does a tremendous diving header to head the ball away from net .....
... I remembered a hectic situation in front of my goal (it was level 3, have to say it, because I don't know if this would have happened at level 5) and the ball ricohetted via the keeper against the leg of my defender. The ball rolled slowly towards the goalline, so I had to clear it with one of my other defenders who was close to it. I knew from previous experiences that just moving to the ball would have caused an own goal, the same way as you sometimes give a throw-in away. But instead of moving towards it and pressing shoot to clear it, I pressed the wrong button, now I started to panic, knowing I got just a split second before the player reaches the ball and walks it in his own goal! But I was completely stunned and kept holding the L1-button but even that would not be a problem as long as I pressed shoot to clear it. In stead of that, I used my left hand to hit a "shoot" button, but that was the direction-pad.
I was lucky. I played that match with the top-down camera (it was in the early days and tried out this setting ) and pressing the left direction-button (on the other pad the left button is the shoot-button), together with L1 causes the player to get the bal, moving with the walk-dribble ON the goalline :D , in the process passing an attacker, who probably didn't expect this move :D , and I finally relaxed, knowing that the danger was over
Since that moment I knew this second way to avoid throw-in-gave-aways, use the L1-dribble!
