Old love to a Team?

In Portugal we have a saying that you can change wife, political party, life style but never a football club. It´s hard for me to understand how you can stop supporting a club and change your preferences to the rival.
I understand that in some countries the level of the football competitions is very low and that the motivation to support the national clubs is non existent. Because of that, it´s understandable that you "adopt" a foreign country to be target of your football afections. Changing it ,constantly, according to their success isn´t.
I support a hometown/national club. Because of family influence and because i´ve been following the club since im a kid and since i developed a conscience. I feel indentified with the club, pay my monthly associate fee and go to the stadium ocasionally when i have a chance. I could never change club even if it isnt a very sucessfull one and the only way you can gloat about it, it´s when you win your regional derbies. Even so i could never change my preferences and start supporting another club.
Other then that, i admit that i sympathize with some foreign clubs. Not because of their success but because they have countrymen in their ranks. I wish them all the success and i enjoy when they achieve status abroad and represent my country adequatly but i just sympathize with their clubs. I could never support their clubs the same way i support my hometown/national club.

You obviously know nothing about the history of football? They dominated for about 20 years up into the 80's. I cant remember when i started supporting Man Utd, ive supported them since before i can remember, and ive never changed, i love them too much. To change from Man Utd to Arsenal is

Supported Manchester United since that Cantona kick incident. Never support any football team before, maybe because I was still a child and football broadcast was not everywhere on the TV back then. I saw Cantona in the news, and somehow it attracked me . . .

I ve Supported Liverpool since i can remeber when i was about 5/6 my dad told me about Hillsbrough and about the history of Liverpool the sucessful peroid of 70/80's . My dad is not actually a Liverpool fan but we lived in Liverpool and he use to take me to the games he can he is actually supports Aresnal which is where he grow up.

i dropped off gio cuz i wasn't able to see his game anymore and he slowly faded away
honestly juve is tha first "team" i supported
i always liked em' always one of my top three

I used to support man u...I don´t anymore. Had supported them for like 6 years but then I went and watched Notts County play and that was it. Notts felt genuine, with genuine fans. It's no wonder kids all around the world support United/arsenal/real, it's all they ever show on TV. Now I just don't see how you can support a team you've never seen play in your life.
